View Full Version : Of Gods and Men
Found this movie on youtube
the full name of it is
Star Trek: Of Gods and Men
Have seen about 30 minutes. It's not that it is the worst ST movie I have seen, but it's definitely not the best ST movie I have seen.
Two from TOS is in this movie. Uhura and Chekov

I came across it a few months ago. After having seen this crew/cast perform so well in Undiscovered Country, I find it difficult to watch them perform so poorly in this movie. Their parts do not look convincing to me. Or maybe it's not them, but the rather slow pace of the scenes I've seen.
The first thing that comes to mind, is wonder how or why did they agree to make this movie.
I'd rather retain the memory of their performance in Undiscovered Country, quite possibly the apex of this crew/cast.
All in all I must have seen about 15 minutes of it. I'm going to try and watch it all now, maybe my mind will change about it.
If you decide to not watch it you will no miss much. The storyline it self is OK. It's, like you said, the acting that could have been a lot better. especially the former actress and actor from TOS and from other ST series could have raised the acting level a little better.
Read about it on imdb and there it got 6,2 :hmmm:

Ok, I've just finished watching.
Yes I have changed my mind. The actors did OK, maybe the directing could have been somewhat better.
And I gathered that it was very low budget, and much was volunteer work.
I did like the outakes at the end, as I always do.
I found it interesting they drew actors and species from the OS, Voyager, Enterprise, and the Generations movie.
With such low budget it's no wonder the special effects and ship movements were rather unconvincing.
But I still can't get over how torpedos, laser blasts and explosions are still so thunderous in the vacuum of space.

I rather liked it for a low budget (and free to watch) Star Trek Film, at least I liked it better then that alternate universe crap that makes up Abrams trek.
Also, it should be noted that the guys who made this are working on a series:

What he said! I was a amateur/fan movie and we have to give some credit to it.
ALso, see Star Trek New Voyages/Phase II: http://www.startrekphase2.de/en/home.html
Very good episodes (some written by the script writers of the ST:TOS for TOS phase II).
