Hi guys

I'm new to SH3 and SH's at all.

I installed SH3 with 1.4b patch and installed GWX 3.0
Played all tutorial's for while and stared fist patrol. half way to grid I got CTD and when ever I tried to start carrier again i get CTD when loading screen is finished.

Tried reinstalling, re downloading but still same...

Did you delete the SH3 folder in (My) Documents? And the game's installation folder when you de-installed it? There might be some leftovers from your possibly corrupted old install. Re-installs have been known to fail sometimes because of this.

It might not be related to your problem, but since Vista the following is wise to do when games/applications will end up getting modded. When you do reinstall, I suggest you avoid to install it into the Program Files folder. Make your own folder like C:\Games\SilentHunter3, and put it there. Windows doesn't like it when files in there get modified and throws up UAC warnings. Or outright cancels/overrides it if your account isn't an administrator.

[Edit]Which mod-parts are enabled in the JSGME application? The GWX Late War Sensors mod-part might cause issues if your career doesn't match it's requirements. Or one of them would anyway.

I deleted all leftover from previous installing. I found that is required in GFX manual.

Mods i activated are : 16k atmosphere, Alternate Loadsreeen, alt flotillas, eng nav map, enhanced dmg effects, fix French, integrated orders, lite harbor traffic, main movie das boot, open hatch mod, VIIC41 Player sub.

All mods were activated before starting career. Tried deactivating them all and starting all over but same thing....

SH 3 is a DirectX 9 based game. It could be a good idea to install the latest DX 9 version which is directx_Jun2010redist. It is not included in your OS by default. It will do no harm to install it.

So you still experience a crash at some point? With the same carreer/savegame? How is that possible if you removed the SH3 folder in your My Documents folder. There shouldn't be any old carreer anymore. I'm confused.

You misunderstood me. I started new career more then once. Fist I tried just deleting save and everything in that folder. then I did reinstallation with deleting all left overs. But I always get CTD...

Delete everything as previously advised then clean out the registry.

Before you add any mods to Silent Hunter 3, even GWX, test if the install works. Then install GWX. Test this. Then add mods. One at a time, and test again.
