Just considering the differences between Russia and the US should make for a most 'interesting' statement :hmmm:

Leaders at the G8 summit in Northern Ireland are said to be close to signing a joint statement on Syria, despite their differences.
Russia and the US are backing opposite sides in the conflict, but officials say the statement could soon be agreed.

Wow that photo of Obama and Putin very obvious body language and not very friendly you can tell that it is an awkward moment for both.

Putin's inner thought:I wish we had the military power we had 30 years ago.

Obama inner thought: I wish we had the military power we had 30 years ago.

We where on an equal playing field back then now nether side has the power to get the other to do what they want.

Yes, the individual press interviews at the end were quite interesting but it would appear there were three camps...the US, UK, France and Canada in one, Germany, Italy and Japan in another and Russia on it's own.
