The army will soon be at a strength below 100,000 but I bet it doesn't stop the present government from getting involved in future 'hot' areas :nope:

Nearly 4,500 Army personnel are being told they have been made redundant in the third and biggest round of job cuts since the 2010 defence review.
They are part of a long-term plan to cut the number of regular soldiers from 102,000 to 82,000. The government plans to increase the number of reservists.
Ministers said the cuts were "unavoidable" and the Army would be "more flexible and agile" in future.

Milo Minderbinder approves of this idea.

Can anyone explain how fewer people make it more 'flexible and agile', surely that leads to just the opposite? :hmmm:

:nope:

Milo....I read both those books...Catch 22 and the second part that came out like 30yrs later, Closing Time, where Milo was selling the government planes that were so stealthy they didn't even exist. :hmmm:

Why should we have to fight the Chinese when the RUSSIANS CAN DO IT FOR US!

It'll be great! They already control our space program so you know we can trust them. :yeah:

STEED breaks out singing..."Who do you think your kidding Bashar al-Assad our Dad's Army will stop you, we have no tanks, we have no planes, but we do have plenty of sharp pitch forks to stab you in the balls with"....

Too much reliance on reservists I fear :hmmm:

Yep, they want to double the amount of reservists in the next five years. Businesses will love this.

Precisely...could well turn out to be counter productive.

How about a real nightmare, a private army run by JP Morgan & Chase, Goldman Sachs, HSBC,RBS...Yes the banks. May seem a dream now but who knows what is around the corner.

Dream or just nightmare?

An army of Google or Apple drones more likely.

At least you have an army. Ours is more like a couple of blokes in a ute.

Probably the Scots if they gain independence....we won't need a carrier or a navy even for that :)

Scotland would need a navy to protect its oil fields and fisheries from English pirates, ahhh!:arrgh!:

You'd be scuppered if the Welsh arced up at the same time. Maybe Julia Dullard could come back home and become a Boadecia figure for Welsh independence when we kick her out in September.:D

Give her some credit...if it weren't for her you lot wouldn't be so fond of sheep and would still be chasing kangaroos and drop bears all over the place :)

If it weren't for her, we'd still have an economy that worked. And the nicest beaches anywhere on the planet.:03:

True, they do look great beaches but it is the water that would appear to be not so safe. I suppose surfing with sharks does make it a real sport.
