4GB Patch

Can anyone tell me how to know the above patch is installed and working correctly?
Does one put it in the JGSME or a different place,I'm running w7 pro.

It is an exe file.
Just run it and point it to your SH3 installation.

If you use H.sie's realism hardcore fixes , it is already included.

Run the 4GB_Patch.exe, point at whicever .exe whatever you want.

A few seconds later a pop up will appear saying -

To double check go to the newly-patched .exe location you should have a file under the original with an added .backup to it. Just in case.

I have steam,and it auto installs to the x86 files,and no matter what I point the patch at,it says no.
If anyone could give me a step by step guide,I'll dance at your wedding,lol.
I definitely havent seen that patch successful dialogue box.:arrgh!:

lol. Well if it is giving you to many troubles you can always just install Hsies patch and deselect everything you don't want.

Now which version of the patch are you using and where did you get it from? We have a pack from Privateer for the hacked version of SH3 and the star force free one IIRC you need the SF free one for steam.

I have both versions,and ALWAYS read the documentation.

I don't know where your Steamapps folder is, but in there will be an SH3 folder and in that the exe will reside.

Thats my signature so many issues can be avoided at times if people read the documentation/ readmes but alas they don't
now back to your issue no idea i use Hsies patch and haven't patched the game using the 4 gig patch in forever.

You are quite right,there is an SH3 folder and when I copy and paste or drag and drop the patch,nicht.
I can't find the exe,maybe it has something to do with that damned Steam ,or win7?

Forgive me mate but I think I can see the problem. You don't copy/paste, drag drop the patch. You run the 4GB.exe this will ask you to browse to the SH3.exe. Then click ok and voilla. If you can't find the SH3.exe at all, try windows search and scan all your drives.

i.e when I run the 4gb patch I actually run it from my desktop. Hope this helps shipmate.

It is not clear whether the 4GB Patch will work with the Steam game or not. There is no inherent reason to expect that it would. The V16B1-Patch-Kit by h.sie WILL work with Steam and it includes a (different) 4GB patch. Desertstriker made a vid showing how to use h.sie's patcher with the Steam game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8swgbPegf8 Since this definitely works and the 4GB Patch may not, you might want to just use the h.sie patcher. You can disable every other patch except the 4GB fix if you don't want them.
