Hello, new to the website, trying to figure out it all out. Played Silent Hunter II many years ago. Thought I'd try out SH 4. Any tips on getting started would be appreciated.

WELCOME ABOARD! :sunny:

Have a look around, ask any questions you like. For SH4 you'll want to post questions here (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/forumdisplay.php?f=202), as that's where the dedicated SH4 players hang out.

Pretty much what Steve said.

Welcome Aboard! :woot:

If you want to learn SH4 I found that the best way is to dive right in. Just as Steve said, post your questions/comments in the SH4 forum and you'll be doing alright. :)

Its been a long time since I played with mods and adding them to folders. Just reading about it is confusing. I did manage to get JNGMA (cant remember what its called) installed to a desktop folder.

Truly don't have any clue what im doing but my SH 4 install is probably in grave danger, lol.

Install JSGME to the game's main folder. :03:

Otherwise the mods are just installing themselves into your desktop the way you have it set up.

Welcome aboard, Terry13. :salute: We're always glad to have someone new to push around, I mean to guide and encourage.

Now go touch up the scratches on the bottom of the hull.

There are some good guides at the sh4 forum http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/forumdisplay.php?f=202

Any questions, ask away. We all had questions when we started and are more than willing to help.
The mods can get confusing. Most of us start with a "supermod" that makes a lot of major game changes. The starters are Trigger Maru Overhauled (TMO) and Real Fleet Boats (RFB). The next supermod is Run Silent Run Deep Campaign (RSRD or RSRDC) It changes the traffic and battles to historical accuracy. The last is Travellor's mod and Optical Targeting Correction both which make other major changes also. There are many smaller mods that change individual aspects. My best suggestion is to read the info with each mod and decide what you want. There is another mod called Operation Monsun. It creates an Atlantic, German campaign for sh4.
When you download the mods, save the files in a subfolder in your documents folder. When you unpack the mod folders, then put the unpacked files in the directory that JSGME tells you.

Thanks much guys. I've had some success in mod installation thanks to you good people.

Question for you plz: Is TriggerMaru_Overhaul (TMO) 2-5.7 compatible with SH4 ?
