My resume was never great neither lol. But i think subsims first caught my eye with sh5 and i impulse bought it on steam, then discovered this forum, then got sh3-4 in the pack on steam. then mostly played sh4 with op mon mod on one comp and one of the fleet boat super mods dont remember.
But i still have sh5 on steam and warthunder has gotten me back into sims again so I came back to see what has developed in my few years away from the sub sim community. It seems from reading some posts some successes have been made with sh5 but steam is an issue for some of the mods? is there a good recommendation for steam players or if i want to enjoy sh5 i gotta rebuy it.
and as a side note any good mod progressions to sh4 in the last 2 years? when i stop playing there were some cool work in progresses.
Thanks

Hi Orangehat44
I do not know if you are in the U.K. Sh4 Gold Edition and Sh5 on dvd are now available dirt cheap. I cannot see the point in 2013 continuing to use download versions when the dvd's are easier to mod and you always have a solid backup.
How many and what mods depends on how far you want to push the boat out. I notice a lot of noobs want it all now even though they have little or no experience of learning the game. This is evident just by watching some of the antics on Youtube.
I play both SH4 (American) and SH5 both have their merits but for me SH4 is the more exciting.
Check out FIFI's mod recommendations for SH5 which is split into 1. Basic Essential 2. Enhanced 3. Top Immersion. The mods are all listed in the correct order so you will not suffer ctd's
Sober has an all in one super mega mod list
Best wishes Peter

If you can find a downloadable or DVD of SH5 that does not have steam than buy it. Try the Amazon subsim link in the upper right corner first or search SH5 forums.
The SH5 patcher (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=181433)is a mod but works differently from all other mods. You MUST buy a non-steam version for this patcher to work.
Major changes in a few years to SH5. Try Open Horizons and Multiple UIs for SH5. Sjizzle has a mod list compilation, too. RPM Hydrophones Merchants is a fairly new mod that gives more realism to the game than ever done before, too.
and as a side note any good mod progressions to sh4 in the last 2 years? when i stop playing there were some cool work in progresses.
