I wish they would just leave the original alone.
Prometheus was rubbish, and not the only movie that showed that even a Ridley Scott can mess up badly in film making: just Hannibal and GI Jane, to mention the two main examples. Robin Hood also was quite boring, and absurd.
Don't try to be young again, Mr. Scott. Just leave it alone. It was well, it is one of your best movies, it cannot be repeated, your past does not come back for a second pass.

Prometheus was rubbish,
You thought it was a Alien prequel, didn't you?
Robin Hood also was quite boring
Yeah, the interesting story and epic battles were sooo boring.

No, I thought it was copy of the plot and story of the first Alien movie. Even the sequence in which the chapters were told, was mostly identical. Boring, and lacking the original's raffinesse.
The "It's got nothing to do with Alien" talking I never bought. That's like painting your car in a new, different colour and saying that now it is no longer a car.

I have nothing against remakes of sci-fi movies. It modernizes the movie, and introduces the story to a newer generation.
I do have against remaking the great actions movies of the 80s though, you just aren't going to find people with arms as big as trees and who can't deliver their lines if their lives depended on it.

Some movies are perfect. You cannot "modernise" them, and you must not.
2001 got modernised. Fail.
Star Trek got modernised. Fail.
The Professionals got modernised. Fail.
Starsky and Hutch got modernised. Fail.
And so many failed clones, copies and updates more. Hollywood is the king of cloning.

When did 2001 got modernised?

Yeah, the interesting story and epic battles were sooo boring.
The whole movie was boring. And absurd. A fragile woman - in heavy plate armour on a horse, moving like an elfin, effortless.Has nobody told Kate Blanchett, how freaking heavy those armours were? Children defeating the invading French on the beach in what looked like a turn around of the Normandy landing.
I heard that in Germany at least the audience sometimes was even laughing.
The Kevin Costner movie, that was entertaining, because it did not take itself too serious.
I like many movies of Ridley Scott, he is propably my most favourite director. But he also made some very bad movie. I do not close my eyes before that just because I love Blade Runner, Legend, Gladiator and The Duellists, and like Kingdom of Heaven and Alien and White Squall and A Good Year.

In form of the needless sequel, 2010. Totally unneeded, only tried to rationalize the magic of the original. Stupid.

Ah, the sequel. Well I did not read the book, but as a sci-fi movie, for me is kind of good. And we return to that "universe".
I also liked Robin Hood, I think they did a good change to the story that all know. But can not remember any heavy plate armor in the movie. Didn't they used chainmail and full-body suit of steel mail, a halberk?
