View Full Version : Map marks too dark?

Hi all!

First post, so be gentle :P

I've been playing SH5 for a bit (Did SH3 and 4 before, but a long time ago). I haven't downloaded any mods yet - SH3 and 4 are far enough back in my memory for me not to need mods to make the game acceptable for me, and I want to do a full campaign before I turn on all the mods and say "Oh wow."

As such, I know that an easy response to this question would be "download some of the UI mods" - but I'd like to avoid that if possible.

So, onto the question!

When plotting course to determine AoB, I use the map tools. I find that they're almost impossible to see unless the tool itself is selected - so if I want to see the angle on bow, I need to have the protractor tool selected - a great frustration. It becomes a bigger problem when I'm trying to accurately plot a course, as I'll put two marks down and then try to link them with the ruler - except if I have the ruler selected, I can't see the marks.

Is this a known issue? Is this something that can be fixed without mods? If it requires mods, does anybody known of a 'small' mod that fixes this only (or perhaps give me some pointers toward an easy modding tutorial?)

I did check the search function, but came up empty. My apologies if this has already been answered, and I missed the thread.

Welcome aboard Xiathorn :salute:

You have to use Generic Patcher by TheDarkWraith, it's not a mod :)..
Map Colors tab..

Generic Patcher - http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=181433

PS: for NOT Steam versions only

I saw that, but saw it was for non-Steam versions, and I'm unfortunately a Steam fanatic ;(

Is there any alternative, or do I definitely need to pick up a non-Steam version?

There is not any alternative.. better to use a non-Steam version, at least for this game.. because the Patcher fixes a lot of stock bugs.. e.g. not working hydrophone, not working sextant etc..

Alright, thanks - I'll pick up the non-Steam version then, might as well :)

Really appreciate the response!
