is it me or is the german tdc really screwed up. I cant begin to explain
whats going on but i just read a thread by someone who noticed the exact same problem. I belive it had something to do with the rfb mod.
I am currently not running rfb but have the same problem .

You're going to have to try to explain. What exactly is it doing? Or not doing, that you want it to do?

I notice that doesn't appear to have ever been resolved. I can't say what the answer might be, but it's my understanding that a lot of people do use manual targeting for u-boats with little or no problem. Hopefully one of them will see this.

I've had similar issues in the fleet boats. I've shot at stationary ships at anchor, zero gyro angle, and the torps still miss, sometimes by 60 degrees, sometimes by just one.

In SH3, you could set up a firing solution on one ship, and then lock the TDC, move the scope to each target and fire off torpedoes at each target easily.

I noticed in SH4 you have to re-calculate the distance at least AND send it to the computer, or the gyro-angle will not update with the periscope movement. This is true whether the computer is tracking or not. Your last measurement has to be immediately before firing, for every target, which takes a lot of time in a tight situation.

If you don't do this, the gyro angle will be screwed up, and your torps will end up in open water.

OK, what I don't understand is why would anyone expect the german U-boats to work right when using RFB, or the 3d TDC mods which were intended for USN boats?

I'll admit I've noticed some odd behavior with the TDC (US), but I haven't really tried to pin it down.

I noticed in SH4 you have to re-calculate the distance at least AND send it to the computer, or the gyro-angle will not update with the periscope movement.

This is because the gyro angle is not supposed to update with PS movement. The TDC uses inputs you manually give it, (along with own ship course and speed-automatically), but if the gyro angles chased after the PS every time you moved it to check around and look for escorts/aircraft/secondary targets, your firing solution would be scrambled.
