Traveller Mod
Gato Class, April 1944 Area A2 off Luzon
Added The "Take Ichi" convoy(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Take_Ichi_convoy) mentioned in Admiral James Calvert's "Silent Running" to the campaign(as have before) . I found myself off Luzon in late April 1944, made contact with the huge convoy(15 transports, 13 escorts) and attacked. Now, much as happened it in real life, impossible to slip through the screen surfaced or submerged(without playing unrealistically) and in the past I was able to attack this convoy visually but with Traveller Mod bringing night visuals on both sides a much more realistic, decided to use radar to shoot much as Calvert and the USS Jack did.
I was able to close to about 7,000-7,500 yards from target. Used radar to gain bearing of targets and range, used TBT to send info to TDC based on radar readings, guesstimated AOB, had speed at 12 knots.Fired a spread of 6, then as the Jack did, made a hard turn to bring stern tubes around, fired all four in a spread. Now, had ten fish on their way...after a long torpedo run, hits! 5 of 10 fish hit something, I saw a large fireball or two in the dark night but with traveller mod bringing in the fog of war(no ship sunk icon or captains log) I was not sure, so stuck around waiting for cripples. I did in fact sink one, left another crippled and lingering with its fat stern in the air, moved in after escorts left, finished her off.A Horai Maru troopship and Kitruin Maru troopship down. Not bad at all for such a tough shot.
This is the first time I have really used the radar(Ngenisis) radar and 3D TDC in this manner, I usually use to track, then gain info visually, but this was great.Would loved some screenshots but the dark nights thanks to mod and fact I had to scoot off initially due to radar equipped escort heading my way.
