View Full Version : There's always something that punch a hole in my dream
For many years I had this dream of taking a cruise for a week or so on cruise ship
However it's not cheap you should know and I'm not rich.
I knew that if I had to fulfill my dream I had to save some money each month
I don't know if it unnatural or what, but it seems like I will never reach my goal
Last month I got a pain in one of my teeth, went to my dentist had to make a root canal filling and that's expensive. Back to minus
I have tried to save for some years, but there's always something that punch a hole in my dream
My biggest dream is taking a world cruise on some of the Cunard's ships

Unfortunately, that's life. :nope:
When ever you start saving up some money, there is always something that comes up. :yep:

Be glad you could pay for your root canal and start saving again.

It gets worse....my son is an officer on a cruise liner and has the benefit of having his family/parents on board for free.
His mother and I thought we were going on a free cruise to Alaska this year but the port of departure (Vancouver) and the time we could get there was at best four hours after his ship would ave sailed.
Turkey this year is our second choice.

I'm envy on you. I do hope you and your wife enjoy your cruise

I think you misunderstand me...the best arrival to the ships port of departure would have us arriving at least four hours after she sails so we will be on vacation to Turkey this summer.

Well, I have tons of dreams and they get shot down out of the sky 70% of the time. It's life
You got to do the best with what you have and if you don't have a lot, work towards it.
There's my deep thought on this.
@Jim, yoooouuuu luuuuuckkyyyy :doh:

I can see that I should have been more detailed
I'm envy on you because you have a son that works on a cruiseship(I know wich company and wich ship)
But I missed the cruise thing.

I'm working so much, I can't even remember if I had a dream. I do know that it wouldn't have been a cruise, the USN cured that desire. :D

I wanted to be a fighter pilot. My eyes went bad. Then I wanted to play music. Everybody told me it was a bad idea, and I listened to them. Then I wanted to settle down and spend my life with one girl. She decided on someone else. Then I tried with another girl. Eleven years and two kids later I realized I had made a mistake. Since then I've given up on dreams, hopes and pretty much everything else.
"When I was a boy, I had the mind of a boy. Now that I'm a man, ain't got no mind at all. When I was a teen, I had the dreams of a teen. Now that I'm a man, ain't got no dreams at all."

My family always had a saying "dreams turn into nightmares quickly, it takes time for a nightmare to to become a dream." one of my favorite personal quotes and seems to hold true.
I personally wanted to serve in the nav, and hopefully in a submarine, was my dream since I played Aces of the Deep at age 6. Well at age 14 or so I came down with Type 1 diabetes... that killed any dream of serving in any of the armed forces pretty darn quick.
For the record Type 1 diabetes is an auto immune disease, and a reasult of the body attacking the pancreas' cells that produce a protein called insulin and is not caused by being overweight.
