View Full Version : Getting Ready For My First Time With SHIII...

Hey all,
I'm preparing for my maiden voyage with Silent Hunter III and I wanted your advice. I've currently got the game installed, GWX 3.0 installed to the Steam Directory of the game and SH3 Commander also installed to the Steam Directory of the game.
I'd like to know first, if that was the right way to install them, and second what other modifications are out there in the Silent Hunter III universe that would deepen the immersion and experience of the game that will also be compatible with the two listed above?

Lord Haw Haw British invasion looms (although Im not sure if this is working)

I tried Flakmonkeys type II interiors 2 & 3 but could not seem to get them to work
And ofcourse Jsgme (mod enabler)

Does the MaGUI fix also take into account the Widescreen? I figured the Widescreen Fix would take care of that for me.
You'll also need the GWX3_SH3Commander config file.

I do have the GWX3_SH3Commander files installed as an exe surprisingly enough.

Does the MaGUI fix also take into account the Widescreen? I figured the Widescreen Fix would take care of that for me.

no because the GWX fix changes some files that make it work with GWX such as basic.CFG trust me if the readme or documentation says it do it ;)

Hey all!
So I've been doing some tweaking and thought I had the list down but everytime I launch SHIII and try to enter into the actual game world, it's an immediate CTD. Game launches fine, GWX intro/MEP Load Screen. Get to the main menu but try to enter anything after that and kaput. Any assistance would be appreciated!

Personally I was never been able to run the SH5 Water mod with GWX. Might be due to my laptop specs, but disabling it is worth a try...

i have never used it period because it isthe only mod i have ever used that nomatter where activated in my soup causes a CTD and i use NYGM regulary. It is possibly one of the few LSH3 exclusive mods

The copy I use was created specifically for GWX3. That may be why it won't work with NYGM. I have no idea how these things work, so I'm only guessing.

Nope, not even a training mission.

also save this current mod profile via jgsme so you have it saved, then i would take her back to just GWX and see how far you can get to, you should verify that your base install is good....

Okay, tried to install 4GB patch but patch failed to install due to it not recognizing the SH3.exe file. Would that be because this is through Steam?

no i have patched my steam install before i cant remember if there are 2 different versions of the patch or not in the DL... also if you get the loading screen do you get any progress in the bar and if so what is your estimation of completion? depending on how far might help us determine the cause.

The loading screen will fill completely and then before the game transitions to the next: For example "Not So Long Ago" for the training mission, it'll CTD.
I've also confirmed that the game will run with just the GWX 3.0 and SH3Commander Mods.
Will look into 4GB patch some more for Steam.
