View Full Version : David Beckham to retire from football at end of season
I understand him, there are other things in life too :yep:
Former England captain David Beckham is to retire at the end of the season.
The 38-year-old signed a five-month deal at Paris St-Germain in January and donated all of his salary to charity.

I don't know what all the fuss is about?? after all he was only an average footballer with a good right foot.
David Beckham has caused a lot of confusion after he wrote his statement for the press..
He meant to announce that he's 'Retarded'.

I wouldn't say 'average'. He was talented, i'll give him that.
But.
He was also a prat, full of himself, egotistical, a cry-baby, a man who possessed a high-pitched voice (*shiver*) and amongst other things very marketable...
England won't miss him. That era is long gone.
World football won't miss him.
The only thing i'll miss about him is his priceless cry-baby faces he pulls when his England team loses. Eg. When Germany smashed the Poms in the last World Cup.
Priceless, that look! :smug:

I would believe some of his notoriety is obtained from his wife Victoria.

Now he can focus all his time on black and white underwear pictures, and being a primp for his non smiling frigid wife of his, now.
It is not like he played any real football in the past few years.
(American league MLS is a joke, he chased the money, and since he joined the Galaxy, he has been rubbish in any Euro FB participation he had.)
He wants to be a model, like his wife...Pansy
(with respect to the Euros, I am calling it Football, you all know I am a 49er fan in real mans football, ya know where we try to kill each other, uniquely American!:D)
Breakin' Balls, love ya guys across the pond.:salute:

I ask out of curiosity.
Was Beckham any good as a Euro player?
Seriously, he came over here, and I seen more skill and drive out of the US womens World Cup team.
If this guy was missin 4 teeth with a harelip, and not married to the perpetual frowner, would he be given the same hype?
Now hockey players are freaking men. (Thank you Canada, for manning up soccer):D
Beckham, is a male Victorias Secret model.

I think the notoriety probably goes the other way around, as the girl is now an has-been. :)

He was very near the end of his career when he crossed the pond and certainly not up to playing Premiership League or at International level.
Many in a similar situation go the way he did, they command high wages and in return or in theory help pass on their tips and skills to the younger players.

He did serve a purpose though.
He brought a recognizable name to the sport. Made Schlubs like me watch, just to see, but that lasted 2 games...
We in America only care about Football when it comes to world cup, only because we got a great womens team most of the time. Most likely the only time we acknowledge women sprts, sad, but yeah, it is what it is.
As for Mr. Posh Spice, he was brought in to popularize the sport amongst Americans.
They failed to realize that we do not seek the next Fabio, but the next Babe Ruth.
Football(soccer) Pardon my American-ness, needs more than a face to catch on here. I mean, you guys across the pond are rabid over it, and I am sure when you all see super Bowl or NFL threads, you wonder what all the fuss is.
It comes down to our school programs, girls are more likely to play soccer, while the boys gravitate more towards (gridiron) football and baseball.
My theory on why the USA women soccer team is always so good, it is the only sport they are given a chance in, and actually coached seriously.
Not my intention to derail, just trying to convey how little we know on the sport, at least not the hardcore follower, and the topic made me wonder why womens soccer is more popular here. Sorry to derail, again.:timeout:

So David Bechams career is over, but on the bright side, at least now he has something in common with the wife.

Your loss.:D
I won't even "fluff" myself before the shoot.
I am an all natural man, like a male Kate Upton, except with body hair.
Pics of me, in a speedo, riding a dinosaur, with a crusaders sword, and a Sean Connery beard, coming soon.
Now if only the good sir (Connery) tells me what razors he uses, so I can perfect the look.
He is ignoring me, ever since I sent him those viking themed pics I took.
