:/\\!!

I've gotten an old itch back. I want to play the SHCE again and am having trouble trying to figure how to get it running in DFend reloaded. When trying to mount a virtual c drive I get a message about command won't work in secure mode. It's been a number of years since I've worked with dos and have forgotten much of typing the key commands.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :yeah:

Don't use DFend Reloaded... :timeout:

It's as simple as that. Use DOSBox instead. I have it running perfect on DOSBox. :salute:

Could you tell us how you got it to run?

Thanks, Red October. That's much better. Now all I have to do is wade through the dos commands. :D

I put all of the SH1 game files in a folder labeled SH1, stuck it in my main DOS Games folder and just started up dosbox and I was able to play it.:up:

OK, I've got the SHCE installed and am able to run the game. Still don't have sound yet but will get to that after I ask a question. I'm trying to mount SH in DosBox permanently so I don't have to type in the mount command every time I play using the following command line;

"C:\Program Files (x86)\DOSBox-0.74\DOSBox.exe" -userconf -c "mount c c:\games\silent" -c "c:"

When typed in I get: Illegal Command: "C:\Program.

Could anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? :hmmm:

I've never used dosbox. Do you install SHCE using dosbox or using windows?

I used DosBox, I'm unable to install the SHCE in Windows. It might have something to do with the fact that I'm running Win 8 Pro 64-bit. :06:

What is the folder that you have mounted currently? Whatever folder it is...put the game's folder in that folder. I can just start up DOSBox and type /dir and see all the games I have installed. Then you just /cd SH1 and run the .exe file

Works just fine for me. :hmmm:

I have run this on Dosbox also and saved a Scenario but cannot find it anywhere to Continue.

I have to go through the whole Mount Process to play the Game again but cannot find the game I Saved.

Use a front end like DOSShell or DOSPanel. They all will save your settings so you only have to set it up once. The DOSBox downloads page has a list of the best ones with links to their respective web pages.
