Heavily modded, real navigation, and 100 percent realism.

The first mission of the "Happy Times" campaign, dropping off the spy near Londonderry. I managed to drop off the spy but took heavy damage from the escort's deck gun. I escaped but my hull integrity went down to 19 percent.

On the way home, I spotted aircraft near Scapa Flow and crash dove. Went down to 45 meters which apparently the boat cannot take when hull integrity is 19 percent.

I've played and restarted the "coastal waters" campaign several times when I've changed my mod soup. I just discovered the "silentotto" cheat which lets me choose other campaigns. I've died twice before. 1. planned / expected death testing the depths of the boat and 2. instant death while submerged during daylight. I suspect I either hit a mine or was shallow enough to be spotted and bombed by enemy aircraft.

Anyway, I consider this my first legitimate hard-fought SH5 death. It's good to finally join the club :)

haha...yeah...mine was very close to the same.... I was farting around in the North Sea shadowing a convoy and do a night surface attack...well I get spotted by an escort which I think I can lose by showing less aspect but closes in on me and damages me a little bit....maybe down to 75 or so. I dive...and go deep..completely forgetting my hull damage...and manage to kill myself. I just Silent Otto-ed myself to the happy times...since I kept getting to only January of 40 (re modding re starting and that one death).

Funny how retarded you get when you lose situational awareness and you think you are just going through the motions...... I always die (SH3) when I try to do things I wouldn't do if it were real or just a moment of inattention or slacking off. Makes you come back tho.... like the challenge.
