LATEST UPDATE at #14

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-22164122

An alleyway, which would not accommodate even the smallest car, has been painted with double yellow lines.1. I bet the contractor was paid by the metre.

2. The right hand side set of lines has no termination bar (a 90 line from the outer most line to the kerb), meaning it's ineffective and a waste of paint.

3. I hope the reporter got a ticket. :sunny:

Thanks, Steve. That's the one.

I originally created this thread and included the fact that somebody could park a motorbike down there. I then stupidly updated to Firefox 20.0.1 and clicked restart before I clicked Submit New Thread. Once it'd restarted it put my page back up but only left the thread title submitted so I started again and promptly forgot one point. :yep:

And there's a label in my fire helmet that says firefighting is hazardous to your health.

You win the cigar...there are more about than some might realise.

The overarching idea is to prevent anyone or anything causing an unlawful obstruction....doesn't have to be to vehicles only, pedestrians also have a right of way, especially where there is no public footpath provision.

Ugly habit. Those stripes look really bad.

I thought you probably did. I found myself wondering if a scooter could fit down that alley. Of course if someone did park a bike there it would be an invitation to a theft. Maybe in a small village everyone would know who did it. Where I live leaving a bike there would be pure stupidity.

As for accidentally deleting posts and having to rewrite them? You are not alone there.

Probably went something like this:

Worker Jim: Well they want double stripes in their alleys.
Worker Bob: Look there is a three foot wide alley behind that house.
Worker Jim: Hehehe watch this...

At least they didn't paint over roadkill this time. :D

I'd have been the mug that would get sent to enforce a fixed penalty notice...the motorist has always been an easy cop :hmmm:

So, the latest on these wonderful yellow lines is - they are no longer yellow. Nope, some contractors have painted them BLACK!

Quicker and cheaper than burning them off...times of austerity you know :smug:

Yeah, but they are still going to burn it off. And it's all at the contractor's expense, at last something right in all this.

In the meantime a warden will be stationed out of site nearby for nightime issuing of tickets :O:
