So I saw the trailer and I have to say, Im going to hold off on BF4. EA is now turning it into the yearly COD competition with MOH flopped and my guess is they will flop it too. I hate them. I really do. I hope they collapse and burn honestly, Im tired of their shenanigans, the first for me being after I pre ordered premium (I already had B2K anyways) probably a month after they sell Premium bundled with normal BF3 on a disc for 70$ USD? Screw that, that was such a HUGE slap to my face, thanks for pre ordering and paying for double the game, now here is a big middle finger for you. Now that flop that seems to be Sim City? As well as countless other franchise theyve destroyed? C&C anybody? I mean, I think the only thing they have is the Sims series right now thats any good, as well as BF3 (Not saying its perfect but it sure is fun for me) Madden has been a rehash each year (Besides 13, I feel they made huge leaps there) NBA Live tanked, Tiger woods and Fifa? eh. Ugh..:/\\!! /Endrant.

EA? Who are they again?

Honestly, EA just seems to be making crappy games that look nice. Although I would choose BF3 over CoD BLOPS II any day.

I liked battlefield 3, and I will probably enjoy Battlefield 4 too.

But when it comes to shooters, Crysis 3 was AMAZING! arguably better than any other shooter released in 2012. I LOVE hunter mode. I just absolutely love stalking a bunch of newbies, and making them cry in terror. When I kill, I can almost imagine the looks of terror on their faces, when my precision shots allows me to cut them down soon.

As for the DLC for the Battlefield series, I would say that its actually pretty good value. I mean, you get a bunch of new maps that significantly extend your experience. But than, I was always a sucker for this kind of thing. I am the guy that buys every single expansion pack. After all, I actually paid 7.99 yesterday for a bikini pack in dead or alive 5! A BIKINI PACK! $7.99! Its probably even a worse deal that oblivion's horse armour

The price drop is pretty disappointing, but what can you do? Games go on sale in the industry. Hell, weeks after I bought Hitman: Absolution, it got halved in price. My whole vita library, that I paid like 100$ + for all ended up free on PS+.

Thats not a price drop due to time, that was a power grab at money though. I paid for BF3 in full. I paid and PRE ORDERED BF3 Premium in full ($60 whole dollars again) to get it and all of the goodies two weeks earlier than "EVERYONE ELSE" and then right after the first expansion of premium is released (CQ) they put out a CD with Premium and BF3 for $70?! They litterally just said 'thank you for your money, but we dont appreciate you that much' and gave me the finger. I would understand if this came out a year or two later, but that soon!? It was definately a power grab for money and I hate them for it. I love BF3, don't get me wrong, I find it a very fun and engagin multiplayer experience (Somewhere between slightly arcadish and slightly real / tactical) But that made me really hate EA.

I haven't played Crysis 3 but my friend has it so I may try it out, but besides the Sims (I am quite addicted) I do not thing I will purchase another EA game for a LOOONG time, their practices with their business is shameful, look at the customer support stuff for Sim City? Peoples games were buggy and they wanted their money back and they said, "nope sorry no re-nigs". If I buy a 40" Panasonic flat screen TV that is supposed to display in 1080p and it only displays in 720p and I call them up telling them I want a perfect replacement that works or my cash back, what do they do? They sure as heck don't tell me "We understand your concern but we have your money its your problem now" and leave me, no they replace it/refund it RIGHT AWAY. (Not using Panasonic as the company just a tv brand, most returns I have ever done have been nothing short of outstanding service) But this cluster bomb that EA seems to have unloaded on everyone lately just seems unexcusible.

Gee....I have a solution...

Don't preorder games! :D :woot: You're just better off buying it in the store after release.

I really liked the Battlefield 3 campaign even if it was a copy of CoD.

I think it was better than CoD MW3 in some ways and MW3 was better in less ways... I think if I had the ability to play online, I would pick BF3 over CoD any day. I loved the "Thunder Run" and "Going Hunting" levels in BF3. You can't hate good Jet and Tank gameplay. :smug: :yeah:

all I can say is, never pre order an online game, and never order a game you have never seen before (that includes expansion packs and dlc)

<shameless plug> I have written an analysis on the whole online architecture used in modem videogames, and the thing is, unless there is a fundamental change in the online architecture of video games, launch week meltdowns will always happen.

unless the game is by Microsoft (and even than, server meltdowns might happen). Never preorder an online game, EVER. Online meltdowns are inevitable if the game sells well. Also, the odds of you getting a refund is so low, you really can't expect anything lol.

please read what I wrote a while ago on this matter: http://www.theverge.com/2013/3/31/4167432/windows-azure-microsofts-secret-weapon-in-the-gaming-world

it might explain why online game meltdowns always happen (I remember cursing at 3 in the last year, Diablo 3, ghost recon future soldier, and sim city) </shameless plug>

mind you, since these things are going to happen, please don't spend your money pre ordering an online focused title.

also, yeah, pre ordering dlc with these sub subscriptions is not a smart move lol. But than, I was pretty damn sure the 70$ combo was a promotion afterwards. I mean, I kick myself for this kind of thing all the time (buying far cry 3 just before the price cut?).

the better idea is to simply not buy these subscriptions lol. You are pre ordering a product that you have never seen, in face, you can't even be sure if it exists LOL

This is precisely why I never buy games new. Unless it's one I really, really, really want...I don't bother for a few months.

I'm really excited about Dead Island Riptide...it comes out April 23rd IIRC. I probably won't get it until Late May-Early June. It's just the way I do things. :)

Never buy a new car, and never* buy a new game.

*almost never.

I did buy BF3 pre-release, and I bought the premium pack but I waited until a sale for that. Loved every one of them, even the CQB maps which I didn't think I'd enjoy. If I hadn't bought the prem-pack then I'd have hated to be stuck on just the base maps whilst all the other guys are having paid-for fun on the others. :D

I wish I could buy an MTAR-21 though.

I've also bought the Arma III alpha, as the current price is so much better than the post-release price, and it just looks great. :D

I'll be buying BF4, maybe not pre-release, but I'll be buying it anyway. As for MoH - it's always been crap (imo) but they entice you with the BF beta - some fall for it, but not me.

I'll do it as with every CoD, Bf release.

Borow it from a geek friend I have when he'll be in his exam season and turn the singleplayer campaign in 3-5 days and return it to him.

Have no interrst in MP

I liked the first Medal Of Honor that was set in Afganistan. The campaign was just way too short. The second one was great IMO, but would've been soooooo much better if they didn't copy Act of Valor. :yep:

...for 70$ USD? Screw that...
Welcome to the prices Australia pays for games, all the time. It's a special if it's down to $50, like Skyrim is right now. :hmph:

Then, to be frank, you're missing out on the majority of the game. :o

Hooking up with a regular crew, using TS or Ventrilo, brings a whole new level to the game. If the rest of my guys (and gals) are off doing other things it's never the same.

Si:up:

And about the MOH series. Honestly I used to think MOH was an awesome series, great game... then EA got ahold of it, ran it into the ground for a while, it disappeared. And when EA saw (I think it was MW 2) was coming out they opted to make a shameless plug at it as a COD type shooter... I don't really like them like that. And look what happened? It was crap, the 2nd one was at least.

There is also a little known story out there about EA and the UFC. Dana White (whatever you think of him idc really) approached EA with the proposal 'Lets make a UFC game' EA told him 'we don't think MMA is a viable sport' so what did he do? He went to THQ made 2 succesful UFC games, then EA came out with EA MMA, then after UFC 2010, they decided they were going to buy out the rights to make a UFC game or at the least make one with the UFC title on it. My point is this, they are greedy greedy greedy, and don't care about the product you recieve, only the cash they make off it. I find BF3 as a product itself to be the exception, the whole way they sold it was downright dirty.

You are correct, I retract the part of my statement where I said they got ahold of it. Particularily toward the later years they demolished it though.
