I just watched some YT clips about SH3 and SH4 and I really want to try it. Had to order some CD from Amazon as UK's stock is mostly empty so I am still waiting for it to arrive.

By the time I decided to join SubSim in search for some info and help.

After quick Hello I start with my questions as I believe that can be quickly answered here without spaming main forum. ;)
Could you guys tell me what all those (TMO, RSRDC, Traveller's Mod... etc) mods do? I know it is simple question but after googling for a bit I was not able to find a answer :06: I would to know (in simple words as I never played SH) what are the benefits of having those updates. As I still have to wait for SH4 CD I would like to download all necessary MODs to get them ready to go on time :know:

First off, the Silent Hunter stock games are bad.

TMO- Upgrades the A.I. and adds some features. This mod makes it hard so you start making decisions like a real captain would. Very fun.

RSRDC- Makes a more realistic campaign

Traveller's Mod- Upgrades the damage model and allows you to sit on the ocean floor among other things

For SH4, you cannot miss these mods. You have to have the U-boat Missions expansion to use them though. Get that if you just ordered the standard edition. If you ordered the Gold edition, you don't need it.

Could you guys tell me what all those (TMO, RSRDC, Traveller's Mod... etc) mods do? I know it is simple question but after googling for a bit I was not able to find a answer :06:
There is also RFB (Real Fleet Boat), FOTRS (Fall Of The Rising Sun), GFO (Game Fixes Only), OM (Operation Monsoon). I like RFB, which aims at a realistic simulation. OM is for the U-boat side. If you have v1.5 of the game, you can choose from all these and many others.

I have ordered SH4 (non GOLD) CD/DVD from amazon cos I was not sure about extras, starting with basics first is a good idea, I think.
So now I want to patch it to 1.4 (downloaded :know:) also I saw 1.5 patch which does... eee :hmm2: Yeah but I have to get it anyway to be able to install all mod (is it right?). And then After 1.4 and 1.5 I can (should) go for TMO, RSRDC and Traveller's Mod for sure and a few others if needed.

Is it right?

What about mods? I saw some-like JSGME :huh: Can you tell me what it is?

Yes you need the 1.5 Patch to use mods. Go for TMO, RSRDC, and Traveller's Mod and you won't need much else.

JSGME allows you to install mods without messing with the files in your game's folder. It does the installing for you. I can't explain it real well...but I know what it does and how it works. :yep:
