I recenetly decided to add the Traveller Mods.

My mods are in this order:

TMO2.5
RSRD 502
Traveller 2.01 for TMO with RSRD v502
Traveller Rescue sub for stock 1.5, TMO2.5 or RSRD TMO 502
Traveller Take Me Home v1.3
Traveller Enhanced Sound v1.0

I should now to able to bottom out without damage but that is not the case. I still recieve damage upon bottoming out at zero knots. The crew berthing is still listed as a compartment and there is also no means of sending an SOS for repairs as should be in the mods.

Any clues ladies and gentlemen?

First, unless you didn't mention it, you need the patch for RSRD.

I don't recall Trav ver 2.01, his last version is 2.02, he basically incorporated "Take Me Home" into his Trav mod, my guess is all the "Take me home" aspects are in 2.01 as well, so you don't need that one. After he left here, we had several discussions in another forum about further tweaks, so he did version 2.2. Even after version 2.02, I discussed with him further tweaks, but he left that forum as well with no explanation. Mostly it caused too much plane activity for me, cams were too fast and the crew health, so I tweaked to my personal preference.

Often modders will place several mods into one folder. When you DL and unzip, you'll see the yellow folder with the mod name, but that folder often isn't the mod itself. Open that folder and in it you'll see the Trav mod itself, an optional mods folder and a document readme. If you want to install mods from the optional mods folder, you need to open it and pick the ones you want.

I never used the Rescue Sub mod, but I believe you can with his Trav. mod. From your line, it appears he placed all versions in the same folder, so you'll need to open the first folder and pick the mod for your set up.

I also believe the Trav sound mods is same way, when you unzip it, you need to open the first yellow folder and the mod will be in it.

Helps to check the paths if you're unsure of the mod folder, when you open an actual mod, the next folder/path will be Data.

If you install Trav's mod properly, you'll see the mod name as the game loads. It's clear you haven't installed the mod, more likely you installed the entire folder that contains all mods, thus no correct path.

It should read more like this.

1_TriggerMaru_Overhaul_2.5
RSRDC_TMO_V502
RSRDC_V5xx_Patch1
Traveller Mod v2.01 for TMO
Traveller Rescue sub for RSRD TMO 502
Traveller Enhanced Sound v1.0

All of the mods came in one pack.

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=3831

Which was uploaded back in December. I tried to find a copy of the version you were referencing but was unable to find it as yet.

The patch I did not have but I am installing it now.

Someone probably placed all his mods in one pack, but still make sure you're getting the mod itself, as stated in the trav mod, the first yellow folder contains several mods. Easy way to check, whatever folder you're installing in mods, open it, if the next folder is Data, you have the mod, if you open it and get several more folders, you need to pick it. Inside the Trav mod folder you can choose several other mods such as Original TMO AI, Longer Sinking Times, Cold Weather Clothes, etc...

Just saying, many unzip the mod and see a yellow folder that says it's Trav mod and install that, but you have to open it and choose the trav mod, one on far right. You then can open the optional mods and choose any of the others I mentioned above.

I think it was both issues you brought up Armistead.:yeah:

I have the patch installed now as I didn't before and for some odd reason two of the folders simply disappeared. Lack of attention I suppose. All the folders are back now and correctly done as you instructed.

Everythig is working as it should it it was nice testing everything out. Sitting on the bottom is a new feature I do enjoy ... as long as no one is dropping anything on me.:nope:

I'm having to be a lot more careful now with the new damage settings. I think this will make it a lot more fun especially if I get cripled and limp back to Pearl at 2 knots maximum while the Cheif fixes the boat.

From what I read about the mods the Traveller Mods will really spice this up even more than TMO and RSRD alone.

Thank you for your help.:subsim:

Be sure to read the document, numerous changes you might not expect.
Don't let those shadow planes fool you, they'll fly around you way up high, never attacking, but before you know it planes will come from all around and any escort in the area. One thing I didn't like is too many planes come hunting, seems I stayed under several hours, thought I would come up and peek, there were 20 planes still searching. Another flaw is a lot of plane traffic at night, basically same as day if you're close to air bases.

Yea, last I played I flooded out, 2 destroyed bulkheads, others damaged, plus mass damage to about everything. I sat on the bottom in 200 ft after the fight, lucky rough waters and escorts gave up. I got to the surface by blowing tanks , but sunk right to the bottom again. I finally beached on land at night waiting on repairs, but would go sit on the bottom during the day to avoid planes. After about 4 days got enough repairs I didn't sink from the surface, headed home at 5 kts, it was a long trip. I knew if I dived, I was headed to the deep.

Play it for awhile, I made a small mod with several tweaks for it I'll send you if interested. You'll want version 2.02, it's much better, be glad to email it to you as well.

Hangs head ... well hell.

Now that I have the mods working correctly I am getting an unheard of number of crash to desktops. I never had this issue before the Traveller mods. Seems it is indiscriminate. I happens in single missions, looking through the museum, and during a career.

Is there a work around this Armistead? I really want to keep the mod.

Can't say for sure. One, don't go to the museum, often platforms placed in the game aren't put in museum files and it will crash there.

I can't say for sure, but seems I once ran the rescue sub mod with base Trav mod and I had issues of crashing. However, I just didn't like the concept and nerfed it without looking into the issue.

Sometimes with lots of mods being activated and deactivated, a file becomes corrupt. The only advise I could give you is to remove your mods from the folder and install copies of new ones, all mods that you use. I even keep a clean copy of my SH4 data file, so when I try a different mod setup, I do it over a fresh SH4 data install.

Not gonna read all the post again, but first disable the rescue sub mod and try that. I think I told you not to use the "take me home" mod, the concept and most features are were built into Trav mod.

Can't remember, did you try the 2.02 version, think I told you I would email it, but don't remember as I send lots of emails here to people.

Again, simply try the base Trav mod first over TMO/RSRD, see how it works. If you want to use the other Trav mods, install and test one at a time, maybe you'll find the culprit.

I'm suspecting a platform issue. Let me know what happens and I'll try to help if I can.

It's nice to see some players are still interested in my mods. :)

Thanks Armistead for explaining the install process. I haven't been around here in a while and decided to register again (I don't have my old Traveller password or email address anymore). I'm thinking about updating my mods again, but they will have to be renamed under Robin!

I'm sure you're wondering why I suddenly disappeared from the Ubisoft SH4 forum last year. I was just burned out on modding and decided to take a leave of absence. Too many real-life issues at the time. But I'm back and will seriously consider doing some updates. I do agree with you about too many shadow recon planes swarming in the current version for TMO. Also, the Rescue Sub aspect is still a bit buggy. I never could get it to work perfectly due to the crash that sometimes occured after repairs and refueling finished.

I also highly recommend my mod for use Operation Monsoon U-boat campaigns. I put a heck of a lot of work into it. Just the 350+ custom, historcally accurate U-boat campaign radio messages took me almost 100 hours to complete! :dead:

Glad to have you back, I for one am glad to see you. Sent you a PM.

Many players love your mod and numerous new people really like it.

I know many would like a version for OTC mod. I've been comparing the files, may not be as much work as I suspected. I was debating what elements of whose I would use, but I think most would like your damage model.

Anyway, been working on something that I could use some help or advice, I'll discuss it by PM with you when I get home. Maybe you could look at it and help me figure it out.

You're one of the best modders I know, more for thinking out of the box.......Hang around!!!!!

Thank you. Glad to be back after a very long break. :) I was planning on going into permanent modding retirement, but decided not yet. But I will avoid burnout this time around by not pushing myself too much. :88)

I look forward to hearing your modding ideas.

Thanks guys. Good to be back after a year-long break. :D

Anyway, I'm always open to new ideas regarding my mods. I'm not sure how many more Traveller.. er.. I mean Robin mod release versions there will be for TMO, but there will be at least a few. :)

Hello Traveller, glad you mentioned OM, I just to decided to try it out. Does your mod include any upgrades for U-boats in OM? If not, have you got any idea how to include some upgrades for U-boats?

Trav,

I can't send you PM's now.

I know several here have ver 2.02, I'll PM around and see if it can get uploaded and see if a mod will check the RSRD links to get them back working.

I won't be home until Sunday, so don't have PC with files.

I understand, Armistead. Thanks. And if you still have my v1.1 sound mod (with the falling bomb sounds), I'd appreciate that, too. And my PM is working now.

Hi Mido. I didn't make any changes to U-boat upgrades in Traveller mod for Om, but Om does already include many upgrades you can get with renown points.

Thanks for your reply! I noticed that there are some equipment upgrades but never got a better boat yet. I started a career with a Type VIIB boat in '39 and still didn't get a more advanced boat in '43!
Do you know where to edit the U-Boat upgrades (not equipment upgrades)?
BTW, great modpack for OM!!!

Welcome aboard Traveller. Glad to see you made it. If you've been to the Ubi site, you probably noticed some changes for the worse. Most of us older guys and girl have all but abandoned ship over there.

Hi fireftr18. Good to be back here. It's a shame what happened over at the Ubisoft forums. I can see why everyone jumped ship over there. Oh well. This place is much better anyway. :sunny:

I find the Traveler Mods fascinating. The damage model, being able to sit on the bottom for repairs(when not in avoidance mode) and all the other aspects the mods create is a wonderful addition to the game.

It forces ... or urges you to be a bit more judicious in your actions and I find that adds to the fun of playing.

Wait until you get enough damage that you barely make it to the surface, then you sink right back down again.

Thanks for trying out my mods. I hope you enjoy them. That was one of my main goals with Traveller Mod- to make the player play more cautiously and realistically, or pay the consequences for reckless behavior. It was also to make for more drawn-out ordeals when damaged. That instant death screen when hull integrity reached zero always drove me crazy.

:)

Speaking of which... Yesterday I was playing a campaign game with a 2.03 beta version of Traveller mod, and I was heavily depth-charged near Truk in my S-boat. Took several direct hits. We had complete, unrepairable pressure hull failure and sank, bottoming out at around 280 feet. Unable to repair the flooding and surface, we slowly waited for death due to lack of oxygen. :dead:

Had that happen to me with 2.02. Luckily rough water, enemy left, stuck on bottom in about 250ft. I was close to land and inched up using my 1 kt speed until I got the boat surfaced. .

I'm running with RSRD and Operation Monsoon, just had to have the Atlantic. Are these mods compatible with the one's I mentioned? I'd love to be able to sit on the ocean floor and have repairs going on. Hopefully without DD's finding me and raining death on my head!

Also, Does Traveller have a mod page? I'm trying to track down a forum post that had one individuals personal mods he had made. They ranged from clothes for the crew to new sounds for the boat and other things. I can't remember the name it was under and using the search function hasn't helped when I can't remember anything.
