So, I'm with the asiatic fleet out of Fremantle. I's late 1943 when all of a sudden and without any notificatin my base was changed to pearl harbor. I thought this was really weird. Is this something that's scripted as the war progresses? I havn't requested a transfer or anything. Also I have not been offered a new command or a refit for five-six patrols in spite of racking up tonnage of in between 20000 to 40000 on every patrol.

Stock or modded? What class of boat?

Need more info.

I know hat happened in real life, but Stock for example isn't as 'real' as some of the mods regarding new commands.

you base will change for several reasons but it could most commonly be related to the date.

the game has predetermined times when things like bases will change and it was tied to history as best as they could so knowing the times areas were taken over and changed sides can tip you off that something may be ready to change. just as in real life you never get any warning when it happens

I'm running TMO 2.5 and I'm currently in in a Tambor class.

I know bases are changed for different reasons. I started out in Manilla, then I was tranferred to Surabaya and then to Fremantle as the Phillipines and Dutch East Indies came under japanese occupation. But from Fremantle to Pearl Harbor? I checked the message log and I havn't recieved any kind of notification regarding a change of home port, which you would think would have been the case if it was something that's scripted :hmmm:

When did you get a Tambor class sub? I haven't played TMO alone in a long time, but I don't recall the Tambor being available in the Asiatic Fleet at all. Seems with TMO there may have been a "Terrible T" for Tambor out of the Pacific Fleet, but I can't say for sure.

Fremantle never falls, so not sure why you would get a transfer automatically to Pearl, usually you have to transfer.

Explain more,

What version of game are you running, I assume 1.5?
When did you get the Tambor class and what base?
Any other mods?

As mentioned you are playing the "Terrible T" campaign that Ducimus made for TMO 2.5.

I made a small patch for players who wanted the normal progression of new commands: from TAMBOR to GATO to BALAO etc, that seems to work for the people I asked.

You would need to install it on top of TMO 2.5 in a New Career.

It is available here:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=3506

Description

Trigger Maru Overhauled ver 2.5 - Fix attempt:

TMO_25_fix_attempt, it may or may not work. (it works)

Test fix, I followed Ducimus' recollection, modified the Submarines with 2.2 patch data, and dragged Flotillas from 2.2.
As he mentioned Career Start, I got that from 2.0.

Ducimus has not endorsed me, I'm just trying to help a burnt out old nice guy modder, Mr Ducimus.

This patch removes the bug that would give the player a TAMBOR class submarine as an upgrade to a new command from a GAR, GATO, or BALAO class boat.

The progression into new and better developed boats is, PORPOISE, SALMON, SARGO, TAMBOR, GAR, GATO, BALAO, and TENCH. A BALAO class can dive deeper than a SALMON or SARGO class for example.

TMO 2.5 has the progression into a newer command from a GATO class going back to a TAMBOR class sometimes when the player would expect a BALAO class.

There is nothing wrong with a TAMBOR class submarine and Ducimus made the TAMBOR class campaign in TMO 2.5. I would be happy to patrol in USS Tuna the entire War. If you want the T campaign, disable this patch. If you want the normal progression enable this patch on top of TMO 2.5.

This patch will make the game advance the career into newer submarine classes.

Rather than show every boat, I only expanded the TAMBOR & GAR classes to show every submarine in the table below.

Hull#|Class/Name|1st Patrol |RMKS:
- - - - - - - - - - -
172 PORPOISE .. Dec-41

Alright, thanks I'll try it out and see if it helps :) About the patch; I'm using JSGME so can I simply pop it into that and install it?
That all seems a bit weird about this terrible T campaign. I mean, I picked the standard Asiatic fleet and there is absolutely nothing to tell me that I was doing something different :hmmm:

I also remember; I got the Gar before I got the Tambor :hmmm:
And Armistead; I'm using TMO 2.5 with no other mods.

Definitely the "Terrible T"

Yep it is JSGME ready. It installs on top of TMO 2.5 (after) and it should be a new Career.

Ducimus made the Terrible "T" campaign - I'm not a mind reader so I don't know what he was thinking, but am guessing that the TAMBOR class boats were proud warriors - some served the entire War... also the first US fleet boats to have the six forward tubes, and maybe he wanted to dedicate a campaign to them.
