It was sent to me a couple months ago by the youngster (now in his 60's) to the right. Pop passed away in 1998 of Agent Orange related cancer. Seeing this picture it's like he reached across time to say hello.

An E-9. I am thinking that Vietnam was not the first war for your father.Interesting that you received the photo after so long.I always like personal photos that troops took over ones taken by photojournalists or even military combat photographers.

LRRP team the second from right kneeling is my dad.This was in 1968 I think but it may have been 69 he did two tours.I do not know who any of the other men are my father still keeps in contact with the ones who are still alive though.Rangers lead the especially to beer as you can see.

As I understand they started a project in conjunction with the Vietnam War Memorial in D.C. they are trying to get a photo of every single person whose name is on the wall.

E-8 Master Sergeant actually. Yeah he caught the tail end of Korea getting there in 53.

I notice that in that original post all of the guys are wearing 25th Division
patches. Must mean that these are all photos of one guy from that unit?

Oh yeah the shadow on his left fulled me.

I'll tell my father the next time I see him he likes getting compliments from other elite troopers.Though he is pretty humble about it really when he talks with other vets he likes to hear their stories more than talk about his.


I think he had a lot of frustration with the Army brass because he felt that they did not always use LRRP as much as they could have or they misused them.

@Simmy It is one man he was an Army combat photographer the photos where taken from March 1968 and May 1969 it mentions Chu Chi that was always a busy region the enemy had a huge tunnel network their the photo shows a tunnel rat.It also mentions Dau Tieng there was some serious fighting there in 1968.Chu Chi is not far from Saigon and the 25th Id saw a lot of action there during the Tet Offensive.That was a good time you could say the morale was very high actually at that time because the enemy where fighting on our terms and it was clear that harm was being done.
