I've got SH4 v1.5 with RFB and RSRD running very well on Windows 8 (32 bit)
I've got multiple copies of SH4 running including V1.4 and V1.5 vanilla.
I'm going to set up SH4 v1.5 with TMO and RSRD next and then I'll report how it works.
I took advantage of the Microsoft sale on the upgrade to 8 from XP (for $39!)
I would've liked to upgrade to the 64 bit version but since my XP was 32, that was not an option for the $39 version upgrade. Still, it works very well, even better than under XP.
XP suffered from very old age and was being hobbled with all of the security updates over the years. I can clearly see a big difference with how my 6 year old machine runs under Win 8.
Even though my machine is old, (I've had to replace the MB once with an exact replacement,) it still has enough power to run modern software with little difficulty. I'm squeezing every last drop out of her!
I do run SH4 in Win XP sp3 compatibility mode and I also "run as an administrator," in the .exe property sheet.
Unfortunately, if you've waited to take advantage of the MS sale on Win 8 for $39, the sale was over in January.
I really like Windows 8! It does everything I want it too. I'm even running programs listed as "incompatible" with no major problems.
I've gotten my Microsoft Office Suite 2003 installed and functioning even though MS sez it is incompatible.
I'm using Adobe Audition 3 as well on Windows 8 to record and edit with no problems even though Adobe tech support sez it is incompatible.
I've got multiple copies of FS2004 COF running as well with no problems. (Different aviation history time periods.)
Good Hunting!

Why do you feel the need to run in XP mode?

It certainly doesnt have an issue running under Vista and 7. None that I have seen.

My word my Icon looks like a Leatherman ... I can dig that.

When I ran the compatibility troubleshooter Win 8 came back recommending Win XP SP3 compatible setting.
I haven't tried turning that off, I will do so and see if there is any difference.
Thanks.
