Sadly, I never really understood how the damage control system in this game works..

I just assume its terrible, doesn't work right and go on my way.

For example.. just now (playing dead is dead too) I'm on my way back to Australia and didn't realize there were land units by the Sea of china, playing TMO/RSRD right now..

Bang bang.. two hard shots.. Emergency dive.

100 feet down and I have 33% hull damage and my engine room is 40% flooded..

I quickly add guys to my damage control area, order general quarters, I highlight my mouse over the flood, it says, Flooding 28 minutes, repair 23.

ok?

2 minutes later, 100% flooded, the guys in the engine room where the flood is, are all hurt, or at least they have the medic symbol over them.

I was able to skirt away from the area, and surface, having to blow ballast to do it.. Coming up at a terrible angle, almost 75% angle.

I get up..

I max time compression, and still nothing is being fixed.

As for damaged components.. Bulkhead, compressor, diesel engines and some other stuff.

I always bring the bulkhead to the top thinking this would be the most important thing to fix.

3 days later, still have the same amount of flooding and it looks as if nothing is fixed.. As for the guys in the damage compartment, well they have the green bar 80% filled, so they have some experience in that department.

Where am I going wrong? It seems as if I am completely not clicking a right thing or something.

I loved SH3's damage system.. Was so intense, so hands on.

Unless I'm doing something wrong?

THANKS

I'm no expert, but one thing I might do differently would be to take the wounded out of the compartment, and replace them with fit crewmen. Beyond that, I can't see anything else that would help. What mods you're using may make a big difference. Not everything can be repaired.

Armistead would probably know how to handle this.

If the red bar to the right of the damaged part of the boat is completely red it is not going to be repaired. It might show a repair time but not get repaired. General alarm is something you should be in when under attack or making an attack anyway. This assures half your boat is not napping. You can also move damaged items to the top of the list for repairs. At the box at the bottom the damaged items are displayed. Click and drag what you want to the top and this will be repaired first. Makes no sense to be fixing a radar when a bulkhead is leaking. Move these to the top of the list. If a pump is busted move that to the top of the list. Broken pumps can not keep up with flooding. If a damaged item has a completely red bar it will not allow you to move the item to the top of the list. IRC. Play around with next time you are in a pickle with damage. Move the important fixes to the top of the list. Move men that are not hurt to the compartment that needs repairs. It's damaged control. It ain't pretty. :yep:

I've used different models so long, hard to remember TMO in itself, but AVG covered it well.

The flood meter/repair time constantly updates, so don't totally trust it. A bulkhead can become totally destroyed, but eventually the water gets pumped out, however the damage remains, so pay attention to your bulkhead damage percentage.

Mods differ on repair time, but seemed with TMO damage that could be repaired would repair fairly fast, maybe a day or two at the most. If your pumps are 100% destroyed, often the compartment will stay flooded, even after the bulkhead is repaired.

If your items were simply damaged, something sounds strange, they should've repaired in a few days, if they were destroyed.....well, your chit out of luck.

One thing to do is when you're repairing using TC, when you come out of it, deactivate damage control and it will often say item is repaired. Course often if using TC, the damage control will deactivate itself, try activating it on and off and see if it list repairs.

Also seems strange a few gun shells caused such mass damage to bulkheads in TMO

Is it possible you went into TC at battlestations and the crew became exhausted? That would nerf your repairs.
