Question on difficulty settings

Iam trying to play the game with map contacts off but not 100% realism which drops me in the custom difficulty settings.

So my question when a new career is started are the only difficulty settings that you can select the low, medium , high and realistic ?
If so, am I going to have to play at 100% to switch off the map contacts or is If I select nothing will the custom option I chose before starting the new career kick in.

No, you can adjust your settings each time you are in bunker, just before to talk with the officer for next mission.
