I've been reading about all these different Virtual Armies, Navies and Air Forces....Are there any still active? :hmm2:

I think it'd be cool to be in one of these. I'm just wondering if there are any still left. It seems like there are none that are active these days. :ping:

II./JG53 is still operational and going strong using IL2 Cliffs of Dover with the new Team Fusion Mod patch.
Please feel free to check us out at www.iijg53.com (http://www.iijg53.com)

(and there are a lot of us from II./JG53 on Team Fusion too so we are very much alive and active in the community!)
Currently flying our Sunday Weisse missions (on 5 minute break between first and second sortie!)

I've heard of you guys....but it's not quite what I'm looking for.

Here's why. I can't run Cliffs of Dover on my system and I dont have a lot of opportunity to play online. :hmmm: And, I'm more interested in a modern VMO.

Thanks for the post though. There's at least one still alive! :D

No worries at all, I think a lot of the "offline-report results in" style organisations (eg the old v8thAF for B17II) closed down as online gaming became more common as internet connections moved on from dial-up.
If you have a couple of games in mind I may be able to help point you in the right direction - there are still a few running for C&C or x-com style games I believe but I guess it depends exactly what youre looking for?

Well... I've spent some time with google...

I've seen stuff on FSX and ArmA and what not but the one that I really was interested in was this one that had Air/Land/Naval operations under their own little Chain of Command. I forgot the name of it. They even had JAG and Intelligence divisions.

As far as a list of games, well...let's see... These are the ones I have that would be able to be used.

Dangerous Waters
ArmA
IL-2 1946
FS 2004
Silent Hunter
Ghost Recon
Combat Flight Sim 3

I'd like to find something like the Air/Naval/Land/Intelligence thing I saw. I forgot the name of it...but it was awesome. There hasn't been a post on that site since early last year so I assume it's dead. Dangerous Waters, FS 2004, and ArmA are probably my preferred games. If there's an Intelligence position though, I'd probably apply for that first. Theres the member CCIP who does the Virtual Airline so there might be something he might know about.... :hmm2:

I appreciate the help. If you guys ever decide to open up an intelligence directorate.... :D This one organization even had the Virtual CIA...

Works fine for me.

Well, when I click on the link, I get an expired domain site. :hmmm:

EDIT: Now, it mysteriously works.... The problem with that group is that I don't own any of those games, I can't run ArmA2 and I highly doubt FSX even though I ran the demo fine, and they only seem to have groups of players and not much else. There don't seem to be many groups that do much else than play. I've only seen a couple with logistics, intelligence, operational planning, etc....but those groups are all dead.

It might be hard to find much given your internet capabilities. Most of the groups that actively do what you are looking for are playing more modern games.

I read the PDF for that USEC site...those guys are a little over the top.

Form their "SOP" :

Search and Rescue (SAR). Under no circumstances should SAR operations be authorized for
searches of real persons, whether missing or not.

The following provides broad guidelines for
considering SAR missions:
(1) The event has occurred in the virtual world, such as crashing of a USEC aircraft; or
(2) The event occurs in the real world but does not involve a missing person, such as
searching for loss of property
(i) Simulated POW/Hostage rescue scenarios are appropriate so long as the above
clause is respected. If any doubt exists, the determination will fall on USEC’s General
officers.
c.

Right that is just slightly being too into simulating when you have to say "do not really do this".

The rest of the structure according to their PDF seems fairly realistic though enough so to make me not miss all of that crap from the real life military.

Well there's your problems right there. You might want to check out some virtual airlines that still have FS9.
