Hi all -

tried posting this in the Manual TDC tutorial thread but got no responses. Hoping for some help from the general population:

In the past, I have always fired from a fixed wire - allowing my target to cross into the scope to the point where I want the torpedo to hit and then fire. Based upon my limited experience (and success) so far, I believe that unlocking the target may be shutting off the TDC and throwing off my shots. Is my belief accurate? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

M

Actually, I have found that unlocking target is more accurate than keeping it locked when you fire the torp.
But I have a very limited experience, as the only time I use auto-fire is when I test things as I generally don't want to spend time on manual calculation when I'm testing something very different.

Hi Spectre

Depending on which UI you're using; I use TDW's new UI with the old style controls up. You get a picture of the 1st officer. ( I know you already know this part, bear with me)... The first officer asks you if you want the TDC on, and I answer yes. The only other thing that I need check is, the manual on/off button.
I have accidentally turned this off before while taking a manuel shot. The button has two colors depending on which mode it's in.
I haven't used the "out of box" UI in so long, I can't remember if there is an on/off switch for the TDC.
If you're running a new UI, check this button to make sure you don't have the TDC controls off.
:hmmm:

Dogfish -

thanks...forgive my ignorance, but where is the button for turning the TDC on and off?

Sorry about the delay, (some issues with imageshack).
The Blue arrow is the manual input on/off button,
Th red is of course the order to turn the tdc on.

The blue arrow shows the the manual input in the off postion/color-red.
So, you may need to set this, if you use these controls.
The controls are brought up by the "All" button, top left.
Hope this helps out.
