I decided to create this post so that everyone could leave their expectations for a new game in the series, mainly signaling what should be changed in relation to Silent Hunter 5.
Regards to all!!

Welcome aboard. :sunny:
The likelyhood of there being a Silent Hunter six is low. If there was, the likelyhood of it following the downward trend is high. Since SH3 each new version has required more attention from modders just to make it work. It doesn't look good.

IMHO I don't think a SH6 would be worth bothering with for Ubisoft or any other publisher for that matter, unless it can be made as good as SH3/GWX as the stock game. I can't imagine Ubisoft would go to that level, after what they chucked out with SH5. If you ask me Ubisoft cocked up on this fifth game in the series. The only real improvement was better graphics and the ability to roam the boat and interact with the crew. If it wasn't for the mod guys on here, we wouldn't have what we have now, with SH5. So I think that improving on SH5 to the playable standards of SH3/GWX would be acceptable by 80% of us. So why should we want a SH6. I just wish Ubisoft had made SH5 and kept it more like SH3 with the improved graphics and the ability to free roam etc, instead of making it more like an arcade game.

Once upon a time, there was a game called Silent Hunter, derived from an earlier game called Silent Service. The game was focused on the USN Submarine Service in the Pacific. It was a good game for its time, thoughtfully researched, thoroughly tested, and very atmospheric. (Nothing says WW2 like Lucky Strike Green!) Then came SH2 for the U-boat crowd, followed by SH3. Then Ubisoft tried to put an American flag on a U-boat and sell SH4 with as little change from SH3 as they thought they could get away with. Thanks to the hard work of many modders, SH4 can now be played without too many jarring anomalies and malapropisms getting in the way. But, for atmosphere, it doesn't measure up to the original.
What I would like to see is a state-of-the-art ground-up remake of the original Silent Hunter. Get people who actually know something about the USN, the Pacific Theater, and US culture to design the game. Get a good development team to implement it. Test it so it will work reliably. That's a game I would pay good money for. "Cause it certainly hasn't been done.

im sure you missed seeing it because it wasnt on the front page but i dont think we need a new thread to rehash everything all over again since this topic was discussed until people just stopped having anything to say about it anymore.
if you look here you will see that this dead horse (sh 6) has already been beaten into infinity

I was referring to the thread, not at anyone directly but by all means
edit: if you guys want to continue the talking about a wish list for a game that's not going to be made then that's ok too, that's what these forums are for is to talk and discuss the game.
I would like an SH6 combinating this:
- Gameplay and boats diversity of SH3
- Game stability without bugs of SH4
- Graphics and the mouving through submarine of SH5
Well in fact an SH6 made by all the talented modders here! No more Ubisoft team.

Now that would be awesome!
But I guess we're dreaming...:-?

There are many really good wave mods made by sober, and, if I'm not mistaken, by many others. So pick and choose.

Better wave motion, ship skins, realistic crew voices, GUI (SH3 class) and better Atlantic campaign!

Silent Hunter 6 - What to expect by tscosta1
Expect nothing as it's 99.9% certain it will never happen. But I guess it is good to dream. ;)
If UBI decides they will make it and put it out to the masses, I for one will never buy it. Nor any other broken game or simulation made by UBI.
Why Silent Hunter 6? I think that SH5 is an awesome game. Why not addons for SH5 more types and campaigns of German submarines, boats as well as other nationalities, create addons for campaigns of British, Russian, Italian, American, Japanese and other submarines. Buffin :Kaleun_Periskop:

I think we've pretty much seen the last of any significant simulation.
Sadly, games are changing to reflect the society; brainless fluff aimed at the lowest common denominator.
Just kick out the latest zombie shooter and rake in the cash; that seems to be the new model.

How about we take our ideas about a game that's not going to happen (I certainly hope it doesn't) and pick up on the excellent work of modders in this forum and actually do a single-stable-super-duper-subsim-mod-release?
Maybe just the most essencial ones, or whatever.
As with everything in the modding world you just have to know where to look. Then there's getting mods to work with each other, then there's tweaking, then there's enjoying the game as it should be.
Me I'm still trying to work around my nVidia's limitations on the game engine (SH5, that is).
I have already posted about this somewhere. This mighty fine community was able to turn the lousy releases Ubisoft named Silent Hunter IV and V into full-fledged, entertaining, good "money for value" sub warfare sims. And that alone should be reason for all of us "mortals" to thank the modders and dudes who spend their own time doing this...

I for one, would shell out a few bucks for a sub sim put together by the subsim modding crew. I know you are all different people but you still already work toward a common goal, and do so without pay at this point, when there seems to be more than enough talent here to create a full sim.
To me : sh5 with a very superb mods (OHII, tdw ui, and other superb mods) = SH6 :D
But yeah, i miss crew management and other sh3 feature that are missing in sh5 :hmph:

As far as plowing through the same ground, what else can we do? Most of us can't mod the existing game. I like SH4, but it has significant problems, most of the modders who were working on it before have retired, or moved on to SH5. All we can do is lobby for someone to build something better. I don't see that happening with Ubisoft, they seem unable or unwilling to do so. Maybe they will sell off the franchise to someone with some vision.

Can u guys remember Aces Of The Deep ? If im not mistaken it was the first serious sub sim. Then came The Command Edition. All put out by SERRA. In my option Aces , Silent Hunter by SSI were great simms. Through in Silent Service by Micropose. All great sims no cr--p about having to play on line. I think UBI have gone too deep this time.

I've got SH1 on DOSBox.
Have you seen how many games are now being made for PC, plus how many are on a cd or dvd in stores for you to buy? Not very many and less each year. Now most have to be downloaded and played on Steam or some other server. I refuse to buy a Console and the games that must be played on them. To me it's another way to take more of your hard earned money away from you. Console versions of games are more costly than computer games.... and both are getting too costly. I remember whe B-17 Fly Fortress "The Mighty 8th" was 45.00 boxed. That was my first PC game/simulation and I thought that was expensive. It cost more than other games out at the same time.
But then again these days, the economy is bad so prices need to be raised. :damn:
