Did this photograph spark a police action that tried to enter a New Jersey home (http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/03/19/dad-this-picture-of-my-son-holding-a-gun-triggered-a-visit-from-nj-police-family-services/#) without a warrant? That’s the story being told on a website dedicated to “Open Carry” in the state of Delaware. The title of the story (http://www.deloc.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=8175), “The fight has officially been brought to my front door.”

A happy kid with his 22, man I'm jealous that's a nice rifle, ran across this story while I was doing my happy dance, yes I'm a horrible dancer but I've been seen with women. I'm sorry that Feinstiens named got mispelled, again the happy dance, but that was short lived after hearing that we lost 7 Marines in a training exercise in Nevada.:salute::salute:

Did anyone actually read the story. It's all hear-say. They did not even talk to anyone that was actually there. It could happen, but in this case, I think it may be slightly exaggerated.

The Sandy Hook shooting, while bad, has been overhyped and it has ruined America. Stuff happens...and when you overhype it like this...people freak out. The crazy people also know that if they do something like this, they will get attention. That's all they really want. Attention. If we overpublicize and freak out over a school shooting to the point where 3 months later, they are trying to ban guns and schools are getting crazy.

Schools are getting so paranoid. There was a kid who was suspended because he had a Pop-Tart that was in the shape of a gun. It's stupid! Not everyone who even talks about a gun is a psychopath. There was a story I heard of a kid in a school that had a picture of his new BB Gun on his camera. The teacher saw it, confiscated the camera, searched it, and personally interrogated this LITTLE KID if he had feelings of violence, wanted to kill, etc... My own school is pretty laid back and in a community where everybody knows everyone and most of them are related. They feel the need to install tie-downs for the doors inside every room and they are going to install a PA System. Some administrators are taking everything too far. I had even heard that the yearbook staff had to cut some pictures because they had the church in the shot.

And...while I'm on a rant....

WHAT GIVES MICHELLE OBAMA THE RIGHT TO RESTRICT OUR SCHOOL LUNCHES? First Lady isn't an office that you get elected to. You don't get any power over the country as First Lady.... :stare:

No dessert? Specifically made portions? What the hell are you thinking lady! :-? What is going through your mind?

They are even getting to the point where kids who bring lunches have to get it approved by food type and portion. Most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in my years of life. We have a government program for our school lunches and they cut out tons of stuff because of what Michelle Obama thinks can change American Obesity. The kids are just going to go home and stuff their faces anyway cause they DON'T GET ENOUGH AT SCHOOL!! :stare:

I am a bottomless pit when it comes to food. I don't get enough lunch to begin with because of portioning that we had anyway...but when She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named decides to use the authority she doesn't have to cut my little food that I do get. :hmph:

I have some choice words for FLOTUS....I won't share them with you so use your imagination. She is just as bad as POTUS and she doesn't even hold office.

:/\\!! :stare: Had to get that out of my system.

Yeah. There is that too. Most of the obese kids though. They have food to eat at home....and they don't exercise. With schools cutting recess for kids i'm not surprised. Cutting their only exercise for the day will have consequences. If the kid loves to eat, fine. Just make sure he exercises and keeps that fat off. I love to eat. I don't gain weight though. I have a fast metabolism and I play sports. I'm by no means saying i'm the model that you have to follow....but if I can keep the weight off...other kids can too.

Unfortunately this has gone on long before Sandy Hook. A couple years ago we had a kid up this way suspended for putting Army men on his hat:

This hat, created by 8-year-old David Morales to honor American troops for an assignment to decorate a hat in his second-grade class in Coventry, R.I., violated the school district's no-weapons policy because the toy soldiers were carrying tiny weapons, officials said.

It's ruined America because of overhyping. Everybody is paranoid now even more than they used to be.

That kid with the hat is terrible. It's one thing to suspend a kid for guns....but it's another to suspend him because he's using toys to honor the troops. Both situations cross the line....but honoring the troops.....

Dang....you can't suspend a kid because he supports the troops. My infamous history teacher was the one that told me that nobody cares about the troops and that nobody cares about the troops that are dying.

I have lots of military members in my family. I just about got up and left. I felt like punching her but I wouldn't do that.

She hates me...and i'm fine with that if she hates US Soldiers. I don't want anything to do with her. When she said that, the last ounce of personal respect for her that I had left just disappeared. I have to get along with her professionally because she's my teacher....but that doesn't mean I have to associate with her at any other time of the day than between 10:08 and 11:03 AM

Snag is RO, EVERYTHING seems to be overhyped in America these days.

Everything is blown out of all proportions.

Case in point the recent thread on the proposal by Feinstein. Anyone who knew politics knew that it didn't stand a snowballs chance in hell of passing, and yet it's turned into some sort of massive assault on American liberty even though it was pretty obvious that it was going to fail.

So you've got people on the left accusing everything of being a fascist plot, or that the right is going to use guns to impose military law on America, or that they're not caring about their kids because they have guns, etc, etc.
Then you've got people on the right who are accusing everything of being a communist plot to take over America, take away the Second Amendment and their guns, and send everyone to FEMA death camps.

There's NO middle ground, at least there isn't on the internet anyway, and both sides just keep shouting louder and louder at each other while the rest of the world looks on in a mixture of horror and bemusement.

Unfortunately Oberon it's a fact of life these days (and maybe always) that in American politics unless you fight back just as hard as you are attacked on an issue then just about anything can and will be rammed into law.

You might think that Feinsteins bill had no chance of succeeding but that's only true because gun rights supporters pushed back just as hard as it was promoted to keep it from gaining momentum. You need to blow the bugle loudly when calling the troops to form up otherwise you won't get their attention.

Another aspect is that both sides are not only playing to their base but also trying to influence the undecided and disinterested Their opinion almost always decides the issue and unfortunately they have a disturbing tendency to believe what isn't denied and countered.

There is an old saying, I can't remember who first said it, that the only time that America has ever been united on something was when you had the War of Independence, and I'm sure that even then there was dissent in the ranks. It is a fact of life in many politics I think that the loudest voice tends to get the most attention, and I think it's the modern media that we have to thank for the fact that American politics gets so much attention globally. If we all got our news and communications purely through newspapers and telegraphs I think that these storms of emotion would be less frequent, but admittedly bigger when they broke.
I understand what you mean on those who believe what isn't denied or countered, those would be the 'Kardhassian' (or however it's spelt) watchers one would presume, who simply believe whatever is put in front of them. Although that being said, there are left and right wing versions of those, people who find it easier to just parrot what's told them than to actually think for themselves. I find it saddening that such people seem to hold such sway over a nation or organisation, but that is politics.
In regards to countering Feinsteins law, I fully expecting the gun supporters to oppose it, and in the way that America has been since the Sandy Hook shooting, I would have expected that very few trumpets were needed to be blown for the troops to pay attention, since they have been standing at attention since 20th January 2009 :03: but when you blow the trumpet too many times, you get the 'Boy who cried wolf' syndrome, and eventually more and more people disregard the message you're trying to get across, until it gets to the point when you really need someone to listen, and it's too late. It could be argued that Britain has passed that point, there are few in this nation who really care about politics any more since we have widely dismissed most politicians as utterly useless and yet there is too much apathy to replace them because no-one knows what they would be replaced by. Heck, maybe one day someone will elect a computer into office and we'll all be governed by machines....but I digress.
I think that, given the emotion around this topic, there is going to have to be further discussion between the two parties involved in the interpretation of the Second Amendment, primarily pro and anti-gun lobbyists and some form of compromise is going to have to be reached, if not now then certainly within the next decade, because now we're in a world of instant news and communication, the public has a greater consciousness and it fears what it sees whenever a lunatic gets a hold of a gun and kills a bunch of kids. Any such compromise is going to have to involve both an address of gun regulations as well as an address of mental health care and the entire system that should be in place to deny these sort of people access to weaponry that can cause mass casualties with relative ease.
At the moment, however, one side wants all and the other wants nothing, and there's, coming back to my earlier point, nothing in between. That's a receipe for trouble.

if that were true then why did the 2003/4/5/6/7/8/9/10 bills fail as they didn't have the same level of loud dog whistles blowings or the same amount of daily crazy conspiracy theories being spouted in objection.

Evidence would suggest that Oberon is correct and that you are seriously overstating your case to the point of being wildly incorrect.

Haha....as much as I'd like to, I doubt it would work. If it gets any worse, I'm thinking about going to the superintendent of the school, who i'm friends with. I'm thinking she hates me because I'm Conservative and well-versed in my War History. She is extremely liberal and doesn't teach well in any part of history. She isn't a new teacher. She's been teaching for 5 years. She should know how to do stuff by now.
