I'm trying to fix a link on a post and get this message:
"You do not have permission to perform this action. Please refresh the page and login before trying again."

I tried this days ago and got the message. Was told by one of the moderators that I had permission to edit. I knew that - I'd edited posts numerous times before. Today (0043 GMT, 14 March) I went back to the post and tried again. Same message.

I've noticed that sometimes after hitting the "save" button, I've been logged out by the forum software.

So, clearly something is wrong here.

Incidentally, the post in question is http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=2018912&postcount=484

if your at work it might be a firewall issue but
tell me what you want and i'll fix the link for you.

as for the issue, maybe you forgot to log in or it was a server glitch? when was it you had tried and couldnt do it?

None of those. I transferred 5 of a total of 7 partrol reports from the Ubi forum I posted back in 2010. I did this by transferring each report to a Word docx file and then uploaded to SubSim. This worked reasonably well.

In the course of going from Word to SubSim forum, it was necessary to fix all of the Screen Shot links since this forum uses a different method of resolving picture links than does the Ubi forum. I also further edited things down, reducing the total number of screen shots by at least a third.

At the bottom of each patrol account, there are links to the previous account and the next account (the first only points to the next, the last - if I ever get these problems resolved - will point to the previous and the first). Obviously, the accounts as transferred from Ubi will have links to the Ubi forum. I can always fix the "previous" link BEFORE posting since I'm posting each of these in order. The "next" link must away the posting of the next sequential account.

There was a lot of editing going on and my approach was to fix a few links at a time, save, then fix a few more. This worked correctly up until I posted account #5 and returned to account #4 to change the "next" link to point to SubSim #5 instead of Ubi #5. That's when I could no longer edit.

I encountered these problems last weekend (if memory serves). I didn't have the time or inclination to deal with this and sent a message about it. The response didn't really address the problem.

NOTE: After several days elapsed, I tried again based on the assumption that there was some sort of problem on the forum end. The result was exactly the same: I got the message and was logged out.

Incidentally, I stopped and edited this message and have had no problem.

One possibility is that there is some sort of quota on the number of times one is allowed to go back and edit a posting. Hit the quota and try to "save" and you get the message and are logged out. Just a guess but it fits the observed behavior.

i guess that could be the case, i really have never heard of such a problem before but it has been almost 2 weeks since you posted that so it could have a time limit on editing old posts.

i will pass this on for admin to see whats going on with your access.

1st time it happened was minutes after posting, so that couldn't have been it. I waited a week or so and problem still existed.

Anyway, thanks for your help.

PROBLEM SOLVED:

I decided to try "Go Advanced" instead of "Save". Using that option, I got a new login screen. After logging in, I hit save and everything worked.
