View Full Version : DD self-destroy in multiplayer mode
Hello, I Have a problem with DD in multiplayer and 100% realist mode, the problem is the DD self-destroy and don't I know reason, can somebody help me?. It is maybe cause of the mod IRAI (IRAI_0_0_39_TheDarkWraith and Update), when I play with this mod disabled they don't self-destroy, but DD is inoffensive. When I make the missions I put DD in Elite, can this be?

its a flaw in the game engine where ships will drive in reverse at times so it drops a DC in shallow water then backs over it and blows himself up.
if its a mission you made then often if you delete the unit and replace it then it will act normally or try putting in a course that doesnt intersect with land and the ship will turn around instead of following the plotted course in reverse.
when allerted to you, the ship should not be stuck on its plotted course anymore but i have seen that happen before so i think its just one of those unrealistic glitches with things in the game you have to live with
i dont think the mod causes it because there is a problem with the mod but you just notice it with that mod because they are reacting better and they are reacting to being allerted to you which causes the glitch in the game to show up

Certainly destroys when dropping DC but not necessarily in shallow waters, it also happens in deep waters and in forward trajectory . Can it maybe be corrected changing the launching time of those DC maybe, delaying them some seconds?.

hmmm thats strange? they shouldnt do it going forward or in deep water.
perhaps its double spawning (putting two ships in the same spot) and they are exploding from the collision
definately sounds like something strange is going on
When I make a mission, the escorts (DD) take their direction (Waypoint) next to the rest of the convoy, I don't put two escort at the same time. The problem happens when DD locates the Sub. and they attack, going forward DD explode when throwing those DC , yes it is strange, but it isnīt because the mission's configuration.
Something happens and I don't know what it is, I suppose that I will have to live with it in Sh5 because it doesn't happen in Sh3 neither in Sh4, only in Sh5 and in way multiplayer.

On very rare occasions I've seen a destroyer going full speed in reverse with OHII. I've gone back and started that 'Save' again, and it doesn't happen again.... all is back to normal. I don't know for sure, but it's possibly just a game bug.

You're probably at shallow depth in your sub also correct (< 20m)? If so, the kill radius of the DC is what is causing the damage to the escorts. IRAI set this kill zone WAY higher than stock so that the enemy had some chance of causing damage to you. IRAI also let the warships throw/drop DCs if they detect a contact >= 10m. I had this set to a higher value to avoid this problem (warships damaging themselves from the DCs) but people complained that they never dropped DCs then.
I have considered all the opinions, but everything continues equally. Here I show some images where can see the failure:
1.- the launching ramps DC disappear after the explosion,
2 and 3.- DD explodes when throwing the DC. (In the deep water >100 m).:hmmm:

MaxRadius = 100

And i had to change escorts armor and torpedo damage,
also i increased deck gun damage and bombs damage.
Its not 100% realistic but so its not realistic when escorts blow their butts off with DCs.:D
Until some one figure out better solution, this one works for me perfectly and its way much challenging :arrgh!:
If you want the easy way without modifying things too much and no challenge at all just change
Data\Library\DC_barrels.ZON
MinRadius = 5
MaxRadius = 10
Damn i didn't read "multiplayer mode"
Anyway it works in missions and campaign, i'm not sure about multiplayer.

Try to change destroyers armor.
That means for each destroyer change .ZON file.
Here is an example for Fletcher:
data\Sea\NDD_Fletcher
NDD_Fletcher.zon
ArmorLevel=300
Make a single mission only with Fletcher to test it.
If it works...then you will have to modify each ship armor,
torpedo, deck gun and bombs damage...(higher damage)
Or the easy way just change
Data\Library\DC_barrels.ZON
MinRadius = 5
MaxRadius = 10 or less
Also change settings in Data\Zones.cfg like i mention above.
I was also pissed off coz of destroyers get blown up by DCs.
But it works perfectly for me in single missions and campaign.
I don't think this will work in MP but its worth to try.
Maybe if both sides in MP have same mod? :hmmm:

and it works!!:yeah:, In the same way: Single / Campaing as in Multiplayer, but DD they are now more difficult of sinking,its needed 2 torpedos at least to destroy them.
