Quote from CNET....."Game Booster is an easy-to-use program that shuts down unnecessary system processes in order to improve the performance of resource-thirsty games."

It freed up 99MBs of memory on my computer last time I ran it. SH5 loaded faster, and was faster loading to get you into your sub too. When you finish your game can restart all procceses that GB shut down.

I'm running an older version from Iobit. They sold it to Razor, but as far as I can see it's still freeware. Doesn't hurt you computer, it's not malware.

BTW... works for XP, Windows 7 and 8.

You can choose from here on where you want to download it from.....

I'm sure they started charging for it about a year ago, but up to then it was free. I still have the installer should I ever need to install it again.

H-B, install it and run the old version. You can always click no for the update. I've found it really helps cut down on SH5's loading time, and helps game play too. Especially on lower end computers like mine. Helps cut the lag problem too.

I have the older version on my XP computer, which I just use for running Microsoft Train Simulator, as it runs best on XP. SH5 won't run properly on this computer as the specs aren't good enough. So I run SH5 on my new Laptop running Windows 8 with 4 core processor and a Radeon top end graphics card, which can handle SH5 like a dream.

I have just downloaded the latest free version of Game Booster from the Razor site and installed it on my new Laptop. I shall use this when playing SH5. As GT has said, it does improve game playing by shutting down any background running programs. Just restore again when finished running your games.

I have it installed, I was just saying that I still had the installer since they started charging for it - but I've just checked, I would guess that Razer have probably 'bought-out' Iobit's Game Booster for their own branding and it's free once again. :yeah:

Ahh, I miss understood you H-B. I was never charged for it by Iobit, and even updated it a couple of times. I checked the new one by Razer, but didn't realise they were charging for it at one time. Or was Iobit charging? Maybe I'll try the update and see what happens... if the new version is better or not. Tho I really saw nothing wrong with the old versions, or the one I'm running now. One thing I do see with the new GB is you have to open an account. IIRC we never had to do that before.

See Gap, some of us old guys can find some helpful stuff you young fellas haven't seen before. ;) LOL It's been out for a few years now, but like you it took someone else to find it and tell me about it. Lastnight I used it again and SH5's loading time was the fastest I've ever seen. Should help load faster even with a larger number of mods installed than I have.

I've had it for years, but lost it when I lost my Windows, and haven't thought about it until today. I have the pro version of IoBit's Advanced System Care, and GB comes as part of that. I clicked on the link and downloaded the new Razer version. They wanted me to register an account, something I never had to do with IoBit. Then they wouldn't resolve my email and password. Then I found that, as usual with the last few transactions I've made, there is no direct support I can email or call. They obviously don't want my business so I'm now trying to find a new copy of the old one.

It seems like everybody these days is bent on taking control of everything, and all they're doing is screwing it up.

Never doubted about it... grandpa :D
Thank you again! :salute:

Please Steve, keep us informed if you manage to find it

Unfortunately I got to agree :nope:

Can somebody give version numbers so I can know which one really works? Feedback for Razors (newest?) Game Booster is not good. They say it slows framerates if it does anything at all.

I've got Game Booster v2 saved. Everytime I run it it asks if I want to upgrade. I just click No and continue on. Works like a charm.

Send me a PM with your email address and I can pass it on and share it. Note tho that for some reason I can't send files or zipfiles to Gmail accounts. No idea why but that's the way it is... Damion says so. This is the free version from Iobit so I don't think there'll be any problem passing it on.

One it's way Peter.

So everyone knows, the zipfile for GB is 4.04MBs, so it is sendable from my end. The limit for hotmail is 10MBs.

Garry, any chance of you sending me the V2. then I can uninstall the latest Razor version, if it can have an affect on frame rates. You have my yahoo email address.

Cheers
Geoff
