Ahoy! Today I experienced that my battery ran flat a much slower rate than usual and then took a much longer time to be completely recharged (from 50% to 100% under more than 36 hours with 1/3 speed). It happened after I enabled malfunction/sabotage option via SH3 Commander. My question would be is it a malfunction or something else I should know about?

It's a malfunction.

Incidentally - does anyone know of a list of possible malfunctions using Commander?

So far.... had a persicope that would not zoom in. Which I figured out in rough seas while trying to spot a group 4-6km away.

I think theres a water seal problem/sabotage. I've randomly gotten slow flooding and negligible damage( like -0.7% integrity total) while doing test dives at 50-100m in a IXB :timeout:

I was outside minefields/nets and the flooding got worse as I dived like I had taken previous hull damage. Now I make it a habit to test dive in the deep Wilhelmshaven port before leaving the dock area. I didn't dare take it past 100m.

The worst was an engine malfunction. My max speed was 14kts in smooth waters while at flank speed. I kept thinking my battery was drained. While testing out the pre-set speeds they all made me go 3knts slower. While underwater I only had a 3knt maximum. My battery also went really quick.... Not sure if this was electrical/diesel or the whole system.

Cool topic, love the malfunctions/sabatoges. I try to ketch them before i leave port but a new one always makes the checklist or can't be tested before its a real problem out at sea.

Test procedure for me: Check to see if conning binocs work. Then periscope raise/lower and zoom.

Check speed on surface and then dive to 30-50m. Anything else is un-detectable to me.

Incidentally - does anyone know of a list of possible malfunctions using Commander?According to Randomised events.cfg from SH3 Commander\Cfg
Possible malfunctions:

Flak guns taking additional time to reload or being unable to reload at all..Simulates guns affected by long exposure to sea water, battle damage etc. Poor quality ammunition also causes jamming.
Randomly adjusts blur duration time to simulate periscope seal/lens integrity, also disables attack scope zoom, simulates periscope magnification breakdown.
Randomizes Snorkel extend time in seconds.
Snorkel - Randomly adjusts raise/lower times of snorkel to simulate wear & tear, breakdown or malfunction.
Randomly adjusts maximum range from 50% to 1500m. Indicative of new technology malfunctions, damage to fragile equipment etc.
Randomises default level off depth on crash dive.
Reduces top speed at Flank speed. Simulates mechanical problems or engine fatigue.
Randomizes level off depth from crash dive in meters indicative of stuck valves or manifolds controlling incoming water also possible jammed dive planes.
Surface range decreased between 40% & 80% indicative of fuel leak, malfunctioning fuel injection system or worn engine using excessive fuel.
Battery range decreased between 75% & 20% simulating worn out batteries, malfunctioning charging system, E-motors drawing excessive power.
Reduction of e motor speed & rpm's
Randomly increased dive time
Frt/rear ratio edited- simulates trim control difficulties, boat slightly heavy at stern. Difficulty fine tuning depth at very slow speed.

Possible events of sabotage:

Flak guns jam after initial firing require additional time to clear and reload or in some cases actual repair to return to operational status.
Randomly adjusts blur duration time to simulate periscope seal/lens integrity, also disables attack scope zoom. Simulates possible sabotage to lens seals and or mechanism switching the periscope magnification levels.
Snorkel extend/retract times increased simulating possible sabotage to snort
lifting mechanism. Captain must consider either not using the snort or leaving it extended for the duration of the mission.
Radar set appears operational but overall radar effective range reduced dramatically rendering system nearly useless.
Maximum speed both surfaced and submerged reduced, surface and submerged ranges reduced, increased dive time, increased turn radius.
