I never cared much for bikes, but this is potentially the best video I've ever seen on youtube...

Song goes amazingly well with the video! I soooo want to do this one day, before I die.
I wouldn't even mind dying on it, as long as it's past the main straight. :P

Too fast for this old dog on two wheels. I'll leave that to the young pups.

If they are doing that on a closed, inspected course, that one thing. More power to them

However, if they are doing that on an open road, they are idiots. At that speed (300 feet per second), there is no reaction time for anything. A pot hole, gopher, pretty much anything on the road and you would not see it.

I have to admit that the filmmaking, and the bikes, have a lot of technology behind them, but way back when I was busy hitchhiking from California to Utah, there was this movie...

i think they inspected the roads first and fixed what had to be fixed.
looked damn good to me, for a small island rural street.

however, the stuff is tight right there. one mistake, and you go plowing right into a front yard.

and at that speed, you will cross that front yard, a dozen more - walls, hedges, trees, benches and flowers included, and splatter your brains all over the patio of the last house of the street.

Awesome.
Insane.

Impressive.

It's a yearly event on that island IIRC. So the roads are closed for public traffic at that time.

That's correct :yep:

The OP is a great looking video, but they left out this:
234 riders have died in that race over the years.

My Dad had a friend who thought he was a hot rider and went to the TT one year. Story goes he was out giving it his all and got passed by two other riders that were tinkering with their carburetters as they went by. He decided it was time to quit.

If that is really a true story then :har::har::har:

but I doubt it. :sunny:

TT Isle of Man...I gotta hand it to these riders they got balls and nerves of titanium to pull it off at such speeds.

They're well aware of the risk if something goes wrong but that doesn't seem to stop them.

:rock:it's as the title says the greatest show on earth if you like biker sports

wow man, those guys are inches from the helmet of the bikers in those turns! :o

If someone sneezes, a biker dies decapitated.

I am amazed at the amount of grip those motorcycles have in the turns. :o

The Tires they use are soft and very sticky on tarmac but only last a few laps and you can throw them away.

Next to needing good tires you need as a rider to have a lot of faith in your machine and your skill.

Speaking of the TT Races, when I started listening to some of George Formby's songs I stumbled across this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eayllywNxUw.

Yeah, those tires have incredible grip, but don't last long. Another part of being a good rider is knowing tires, and their characteristics regarding temps & pressures. I learned that the hard way this past summer. :/\\!!

Maybe if i had those guys incredible reaction times, i could have saved mine. However, compared to them, i react about as fast as a slug. :haha:

Ouch, gotta hurt.
Also knowledge of what kind of tarmac your dealing with helps too in taking your corners. Here in Spain they can go from having grip to nearly having none at all. So one moment you're doing your thing in the corners going flat and then the next corner it's like ''Hey rear tire...get back in line!'' :stare:

However, compared to them, i react about as fast as a slug. :haha:

:haha: likewise and that's still boasting!

btw: what do you ride?
