I just got a message from me to BdU that I was low on provisions. I got another from BdU saying to RTB. I never sent a status report. I am only 4 days out of Wilhemshaven trying to sneak thru the channel to patrol DH77. I have only used 2 torpedoes on a large merchant (She' going down!):yeah:
Should I RTB or continue on my patrol? There are 2 resupply ships on the West coast of Portugal and one at Las Palomas that are available for me to use if needed, but I don't want to cross BdU.

It's immersion filler. Messages that were sent during the real war, to make you feel it's for real. You can ignore it. No harm done.

Going through the channel might get you harmed though.

Thanks for that. Yes, it was a bit tense, but I made it running silent and at about 22 meters. which brings up another question. Is there an in game chart on depths? I damaged my boat slightly by diving to deep:oops: I didn't want to ping the bottom because of all the warships cruising around and I figured it was a bit deeper than it was.

Nothing real precise. GWX puts a depth chart of sorts on the pencil in the navigation map view.

And here's a spoiler:

They are not listening to your pings.

Also, wait until you have the right (wrong?) boat and get a message telling you you've been sunk. :dead:

Awwww, now why did you have to go there with that? :O:If the subsim forum provided the functionality I would have hidden it. :salute:

I was in route to Panang in a IXC in late '44/ early '45 when I got a mesage that my U-Boat had been sunk in Lorient harbor. Very distressing that. Fits into the "news of my demise has been exagerated" catagory.

Managed to survive till wars end. The pencil pushers at defunct BDU and Brit Intel no doubt had a hard time working out their records. Knowing how military intel works they probably just denied that my boat could be real.

I don't think I've ever made it to the end. The snorkel bug is just too annoying.
