Should be a good series Neal, I'm just hoping they don't try to spice it up with the sort of adult material they used in series such as Spartacus.

I don't think that is likely, since virtually everyone involved seems to be a devout Christian.

My worry is the limited time they have to tell all those stories.

Hadn't heard of this. I tend not to pay much attention to the history channel.

Set the DVR.

Least it's not another show about swamp people or gator hunting..

No, but I bet for every hour it's on there will be only twenty minutes of content, twenty minutes of recap and coming up next, and twenty minutes of comercials for Rosetta Stone and Christian Mingle.

History also has a mini-series about the Vikings coming out.

Bet the adds will be Volvo and Ikea.

AMAN to that!!

The trouble with Hollywoods "Tales of the Bible" is that they never seem to get the details right.:/\\!! If your going to make a film about the Bible then maybe you should read the Bible.

That's generally been my experience with the History Channel, Military Channel, Discovery Channel, National Geographic Channel, etc; 20 minutes of actual content for every 60 minutes of programing. This is why I continue to support PBS.

Riiiight because there is nothing like that in the Bible... (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ezekiel+23%3A19-20&version=NIV)

Well, it was ok. Nothing really stood out as far as drama or acting. Pretty much a by the numbers adaptation. Too bad they have to rush through the stories, this would have been better as a Game of Thrones-type series.

I saw just a tad of it tonight. Recorded it for later playback.
One thing that hit me right off was that "their" Moses looked about half the age of the Moses of the Bible. Moses was 80 when he went back to Egypt, this guy is not even close to that. Oh well, Hollywood.:haha:

I watched about an hour, but ended up turning it off. They skipped over too much stuff for my liking.

I watched Vikings too. Not sure if I'm going to stick with it either. It looks like just a straight up drama program that happens to be set in Viking times. :hmph:

Moses is recorded to have died at 120. At 80, he was 2/3 of the way through his life. With men dying in their 70's now - a 40-50 yr old Moses would be about right....

History channel has jumped the shark, along with TLC (WHICH USED TO ROCK) Now it has honey boo boo, instead of shows showing operations, or even remotely teaching you something. no more learning on the learning channel, just dumbing.

Now the History channel shows crap like Pawn stars and American pickers, which showcase American greed. Mind you, owned by the same company that ruined Discovery, and TLC.

Yeah sure (sarcastic) I am expecting "sooooo" much from this.

Interesting isn't it. We now have 200 channels to select from where 100 of them are useless, and 50 of them show the same programming. Good thing I don't spend more than two hours a month watching anything outside of a sport broadcast, and even then I can only watch baseball because I can't stand the advertising.

PBS is getting harder to watch as well since they've had to step up the pledging.

LOL. It really does seem sports is the only thing worth watching anymore.

My TV habits are UFC, a show called WW2 in color, on the military channel, and Yankee, Knickerbocker, 49ers, and NJ devil games.

Anything else is background noise while I game.

Not on topic, but as there's discussion of different stuff related to documentaries,
I'll leave you with this channel:

Some nice docs there, really liked the "Failure is not an option" one.

Then the classic hasn't changed, except for the numbers.

That leaves me out in the cold, since I don't like sports at all. My solution? I don't have a television. If there's something that interests me I'll see what others say and then watch it online.
