Hello again everybody, and stand by for latest War Diary from Josef Kotzow!

Thankyou to everybody who read my last KTB (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=2014764#post2014764), especially HW3 who helped out with a slight misunderstanding of the grid system, which is corrected here.

Don't want to oversell this one, or overshadow the last one, but this was a helluva patrol! Apart from being fairly successful, I would venture to suggest it has all the makings of a(nother) Hollywood movie! I cross paths with HMS Nelson early on, only for it to get away - then we meet again for a showdown a month later by complete chance.

The attack on 24 Nov was one of the most chaotic and destructive I've ever done. Not hugely successful but great experience, and good to get away in real time, full realism, DID etc. Very rewarding. I hope the retrospective write-up gives some measure of the utter chaos and confusion that prevailed!

Enjoy :)

Wow! That's great LemonA, appreciate you reading it in detail like that and thanks for the map. Is that a screeny from a particular program? I have a naval grid converter I use to get the lat/longs I need but it only does one grid at a time.

Use google-maps, openSea or any other chart plotter (SeaClear II etc) and the Naval grid calculator ( http://grid.nylle.de/find ).
The chart is Euroafri.geo.

Edit:
Its clearly evident you use a route with water depth < 120m (blue area). Which can be a problem if your boat is under attack from a english massive hunter-group.

A very good read!

:subsim:

P.S. Just for informational purposes, an undamaged type VII u-boat can go down to 210-220M with no problem.
