Those of us who remember the fall of South Vietnam will recognize this story. :nope:

KABUL — The phone calls come at night, the threats always the same: leave your job or lose your head. “Every minute, every moment I’m in my house,” Wiyar, an interpreter with the U.S. military in volatile Kunar province, said of his fear of being attacked. “I’m not sleeping till midnight. I’m scared I’ll be attacked by insurgents. Every time I go home, I wear a scarf over my face so people don’t recognize me.”
Wiyar is one of scores of interpreters who have been waiting months or years to get a special U.S. visa for Afghans who have worked for or on behalf of the U.S. government and who now fear for their safety because of that affiliation. Like all of the interpreters interviewed for this story, he asked to be identified by one name for fear of being killed by those who consider Afghans who work for foreigners traitors.

The group that really got screwed over by the Fall of South Vietnam where the Montagnards of the Central Highlands. They where very loyal to the Army Green Berets that trained them sadly they where abandoned completely many ethnic Vietnamese from the South managed to escape as did many of the Hmong in Laos. The ethnic South Vietnamese had the most help form the federal government. The Hmong received some after begging for it "thanks for fighting a war for us for 10 years uh we are leaving now uh good luck."

From what I have heard some Green Berets tried at thier own risk and expense to get some Montagnard out. Most suffered at the hands of the North Vietnamese today no true Central Highland Montagnard left they where ethically cleansed by being forced to marry only ethnic Vietnamese and forced to move away from the Central Highlands.

A few of my neighbors are Hmong from Laos and the elders fought against the Communists in Laos they are very good farmers and hunters.

Hopefully the government will not abandon the Afghans whose lives will be at risk when we leave they deserve to live in a free country after trying to free theirs.More than likely though it will be the same song and dance and their former American cohorts will have to save them without government aid.

I hope too but we abandoned the Pakistani doctor who helped us get bin Laden. Him and his family ought to be in the states right now with the $25 million in bounty money as our thank you gift. Instead he is rotting in a Pakistani jail cell ready to be murdered as soon as the Taliban feels like it. Probably about 10 seconds after we leave Afghanistan.

So I have a lot of doubts our government will do the right thing for these people.

If we keep doing this kid of thing people will take notice and act accordingly.

Since it is par for the course its a wonder that they can recruit locals at all.

As for the doctor in Pakistan sitting in jail, I am more concerned about the doctors and nurses who are getting murdered in Asia and Africa because the terrorists think that medical staff involved in vaccination programs are all working for the CIA.
