If you are playing DOOM at all, and don't we all at some stage, there's a fantastic mod released which allows you to play as a character from Res Evil 4, such as Leon, Hunk, Ada Wong and others:

This is basically a mod for Doom that features characters from Resident Evil 4 and changes the perspective from first-person to third-person. Players can choose Leon Kennedy, Hunk, Ada Wong, Jack Krauser and Albert Wesker. This mod supports both SP and Co-Op modes

Why would anyone want to play Doom in the third person? The first person perspective is one of cool things about Doom.
Why not? Not everyone likes to be limited in how a game functions, especially after a game has been played to death. Some people like to experiment and play from another perspective. Look at the Silent Hunter games for eg. :O: Mods add to the replayability of games (in most cases).
Hoorrahh for mod makers, i say.
