Hey im trying to adjust speed values on a few boats primarily the ixc/40, ixd2 and the XXI. I've been unsuccessful editing the submarine files in data folder of SH3. Is there another path or file the controls the speeds of the boats? Thanks

You need to edit the cfg file AND the sim file of each sub you want to change the speed of.

As I recall, changeing the cfg file to an amount higher then in the sim will not work.

Setting it lower then in the sim file works.

Hi Fellow Sailors!

Same question here. I want to edit the topspeed my VIIC/42 can reach underwater. What files (other then the data/Submarine/NSS_Uboat7c/NSS_Uboat7c.cfg) do i need to edit (please with the location, i'm pretty new at this). Can i manage it with notepad or do I need some sort of program? Thanks for the help!

Nobody has an idea?

Besides editing the .cfg file you need to edit the .sim file of your U-boot

In order to do this you need S3D which you can download for free from http://s3d.skwas.com/

Once installed open the file: data\submarine\NSS_Uboat7c42.sim

You will get something like this (I don't have the VIIC/42 so I used a different file):

Change the max submerged speed value to your liking.
Save
All done!

EDIT: Dont want to be annoining, but i cant find NSS_Uboat7c42.sim in my data/submarine folder. Only NSS_Uboat7c41 and NSS_Uboat7c.... Any ideas?

You are welcome.

I don't have the VIIC/42 in my installation so I can't be of any assistance.

Have you aquired this uboot via a mod or something?
Has this mod replaced the VIIC with the VIIC/42 model?

Nope, i'm just running SH3 without any mods. The VIIC/42 comes with the original game (?)

Type II D
Type VII B
Type VII C
Type VII C/41
Type VII C/42
Type IX B
Type IX C
Type IX C/40
Type IX D2
Type XXI

My guess is that the VIIC/41 and VIIC/42 are based on the VIIC model and that they are pretty much al the same? So any changes to the orginal VIIC will effect the 42, am I right?

Looking through those screenshots, you can see some of the ships have capsized. As far as I'm aware, this is impossible in SH3, so what did they have to do to get those shots?

Based on how damage zones are set up for any given ship? Turning turtle can be seen. Most stock Units rarely do that. Mods that have had extensive changes to the damages will do it more often but not often enuff to make it unreal.
