Hello Subsim,

I have been stalking Subsim for many years. It is about time for me to make the first thread. This time is awesome time for Subsim if I understand this right.

I understand that it might be best for me to buy SH5 and all other series through Amazon rather than download those games?

Please let me know if I should buy DVDs or download them?

Of course I will buy those games through the link of Subsim to Amazon to support Subsim, if it is the best way.

Happy hunting and carry on,

Eric

Hello eric, welcome in.
No matter what, I always like to have a hard copy of a game (CD). I will "Ditto" volodya61 as to the Steam version. You will not get the benefit of many (or all) of the mods. They are incompatible. Best to have the either the Non-steam downloadable game (and put it right back on a cd or flash drive, anything) or just get the CD or DVD, whatever.

Thanks I'll download the series. I believe I have SH3.

I hope the mods in SH4 and 5 are awesome. I'll explore in the other section of this for mods related. I'll ask question later if I need some inputs to run bootcamp in the new iMac 2012.

Happy hunting and carry on,

Eric

Targor, a question. Can you burn the download to a DVD so you can reinstall from the DVD again, and still have a keycode that works for the reinstall also?

have no clue, tbh, as I have a dvd. But, honestly, I don't see a reason why you can't.

Ok. I was just thinking and wondering that maybe some of these downloads might be a one time deal. You know, the old bait and hook deal.... that's not a deal at all. ;)

From StarCraft II, the company will keep the record that you have purchased the game. You can download it as often as you would like for many years to come. It is awesome so I don't have to worry about damaging my DVD/CD and then I had to buy another one. Download is pretty convenience and economic friendly.

I hope SH has same kind of that thing. I will let you all know soon. Right now I am trying to install Win 7 on my imac through bootcamp program.

You can always make a copy of the dvd for your own personal use in case your original gets damaged.

For me, my own storage hard drive is always safer/better than plastic CD or DVD :yep:

EDIT: from the CD/DVD discs only excess dust in the house..

I put the game on my hard drive and put the DVD in a safe place. When I have to re-install the game, as I have with SH3 more times than I can count, I don't want to trust someone to have it safely out in space waiting for me. I want it where I can grab it now.
