The pretty eye candy and my faith in certain modders finally drew me in, bought SH5 last night and I'm going to start working on getting Sober's mod list installed this evening.

Coming from SH4 (RFB + RSRDC then OM) and SH3 GWX.

Wish me luck getting this all running.

ROFL: So since the last post, I've only just managed to get the game working with Sobers mod list, or at least gotten to play one of Trevally's tutorials, haven't started a career yet.

Truthfully, I got it all done once, then the game wouldn't load, deleted, uninstalled, reinstalled, repatched, remodded and generally went insane from sheer frustration, adjusted the living heck out my laptop including learning some new stuff (20 year IT professional) to get it playable (I7, 8GB, Nvidia 7730m, so it should be able to play the game OK).

However, as far as I can tell, it is now playable and truthfully it is a really good looking game with a great mod set from what I've seen.

Going to run every tutorial I can find and see how it plays!

Given how crazy it is to get it all modded and working, I now have an insane amount of respect for a bunch of modders who's names I don't want to list for fear of leaving someone out who deserves a thank you.

I'm just starting up with SH5 as well, but I seem to be having some trouble figuring things out. Any help for the newbie would be appreciated.

I thought I would start with some of the historical missions and just get a feel for the interface without actually trying to achieve much.

First, I can't figure out how to dive the boat. I hit the 'crash dive' key but the watch just stands around and the game tells me that I can't dive because the crew is still on deck. How do I tell the crew to get below? I read through the rather brief manual and there was nothing I could find about this.

Also, is there a tutorial mission? I've checked the list of historical missions and there is nothing there marked tutorial. I've seen a tutorial mission mentioned elsewhere on the boards but can't seem to find it.

Is there any way to get rid of that 'uplay' thing and start the game directly without going through 'uplay'?

Okay, I've got the diving thing figured out - the captain needs to be inside the boat before the dive is ordered. Does the watch ever come in? I crash dived the boat and it went to 73m, but the watch is still in the conning tower...

I'd appreciate help with the other issues that I mentioned.

They do go below but you don't see them do it. As for them staying on the conn, that's a bug. There's a mod that fixes that. IIRC there's also one the lets you catch a glimpse of them coming down the ladder, but I don't know which mods they are.

Do you know which mission is the tutorial mission? I googled and I found that the tutorial mission has something to do with the attack on Poland, but I can't seem to find it in the SH5 menus.

Any help would be appreciated it.

How to start the campaign using sobers mega mod list .

Start the game and play the tutorial without any mods enabled .
Once you have completed the tutorial and recieved the green tick in the bunker exit the game .

Have these been updated? Do you know where I can find the updated instructions?

Also is the MightyFine Crew Mod included in Sober's mod or do I need to install it seperately?

It took me a couple of tries, I think while doing everyone once, I accidentally dragged something somewhere it didn't belong because I was getting some bizarre python errors trying to load a mission.

Got to play some more tutorials last night and everything seems fine, worth the work once you get it all going.

Hi All,

I have a really dumb question. When I play SH5 the underwater image of the u-boat is horribly distorted so that I can't even make out the shape of the submarine. I'm playing with Sober's recommended mods installed.

Is this caused by one of the mods? If yes, which one? If not, is there anyway to disable this?

I wanted to be able to watch my u-boat cruise around submerged, so I'd appreciate any help.
