Hi all -

just got SH5 thru Amazon last week and I'm dying to get into the game. Unfortunately, the making of my own flavor of 'mod soup' has me perplexed.

Goals:
English voices - my german sucks!
SH3-like experience to lower the learning curve
Manual TDC, but not the 'full real' (i.e. RealNAV, super hard AI, etc) for now.

Here's what I came up with as a mod list based upon Trevally's excellent Mod Guide for Beginners:

Unfortunately, I got a CTD loading that list and without an error or an error log, I don't know where the issue lies.

Also, another point of confusion: where during the mod process should the .exe mods take place? I've made the changes using TDW's patcher, but I've read some threads which seemed to indicate that something needed to be added in JSGME as well? Does it matter when you make the mods to the .exe?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as my fumbling around is getting me a whole-lotta nowhere.

just remember in the future that "mod soup" is a term used to refer to a problem with a group of mods used together that are causing issues.

sometimes i see the term being used as a new name for the almost common place lists of dozens of mods we feel are needed for the game but calling it "mod soup" will confuse people so i just wanted to point this out to you and others who look at this thread

Editing the User Options File using the App should be done when New UIs by TDW MOD is NOT activated.

I'm not sure about your order...you can compare it to my mod list in my Signature. I've had to tweak it here and there (with suggestions of others) to make it work.

Try installing only a few at a time. Then try a new career. If all OK add a few more and test with a new career each time.

You should try this order, and add the yellow lines IMO :yep:

Do we still need TDW Water Disturbances? Did I read that it was included in TDW's IRAI or FX Update? Or is it me that's remembering wrong?......it wouldn't be the first time:-?

That's right.
No need for DC water disturbances with IRAI (i asked not long ago)
No need for depth keeping problem either...

Thanks Fifi. Just woke up about half an hour ago, so I wasn't sure if I had dreamt that about Water Disturbances or if I had read it somewhere:doh:

Thanks all! I actually got in the game and had enough time to play a little bit in the Balkan Sea...I'm questioning the wisdom of entering an British controlled harbor at the moment, as the manual TDC process is different enough in SH5 that I'm having problems adjusting.

But at least it's running!!!
