I'm having some strange things happening when I'm going up against a convoy.
When I get multiple contact's on sonar / hydro's I plot a intercept course and try to stay 8 to 9Nm (in clear weather) out on a parallel course and try to ID all the vessels in the convoy and observer how the DD's are protecting the convoy before I make a run to get ahead of them and go for my attack...
Usually I try to get about 10 to 15Nm in front before I turn for the attack and hope the convoy hasn't changed its course.
Now starts my problem,
About 75% of the time 1 destroyer is trailing the convoy instead of being in front of it and the other 2 are covering port and starboard side of the convoy which is normal.
I use TC (up to 32) to get in front the convoy and al of a sudden the trailing destroyer is making a run for the convoy and overtakes it port side if I'm port side and starboard side if I'm starboard side :06:.
By the time I'm in position the destroyer positioned himself nicely in front of the convoy zigzagging away like he never left.
I'm currently on a mission to photograph Hiroshima bay (Feb '42) and my first attempt at Bungo Strait was something out of the twilight zone or that vessel had a radar.
It was 22h00 calm weather, slight fog and half moon when I entered the Bungo and got a warship contact report at approx 23h15, told sonar to follow it (I was about 8Nm behind it and slightly gaining), used up to 8TC and been trailing the destroyer for about 2h, at 6Nm I slowed down enough not to get closer, at least I thought it would but to my astonishment it slowed down as well. I slowed down some more and it did as well and kept the distance to 6-ish Nm.
It's only the escorts that seems to know where I am when using TC, has anyone els had similar problems with TC?
PS_ On exiting Bungo and making my way to Hiroshima the destroyer made its move while I was getting in to shallow waters :nope:.
