This is the message I get 99% of the time, I ask my crew to do something..
Overrev the engine, reveal enemies..
Those are lame, for obvious reasons, but things like "reduce flooding" "Help repair faster"
are important..
Running the major mod and just wondering, what makes them sometimes do things and sometimes saying they cannot?
Thanks
I do know that when the XO, WO or other officers are injured they can't do as requested. As for other times... I've no idea. And the only way they will be healed is if you go back to your port. There is no healing while at sea.
Note too that I've never seen an office KIA while at sea.... so far.
This bothers me too. I wish there was a way to disable all injuries. Any mods out there that do this? Submarine warfare was sort of an all or nothing type of risk. I think inmost cases the whole crew died or everyone survived. It was probably rare for a lone crew member to get injured independent of the entire crew. Just my 2 cents.
You should activate Reworked Morale and Abilities!
Awesome mod, and your hydro guy will act as a medic. You are able to give him more points too.
Injuries can be solved with various time.
I'll have to get that one and install it. My XO and WO are always stubborn and getting injured. Thanks Fi.

Antiaircraft engagements could result in a number of casualties as the boat was strafed or the weapons failed catastrophically. Occasionally a WW2 sub would surface to make a last stand with the deck gun when staying underwater further was no longer an option, which could result in a variable proportion of dead and wounded/captured among the crew. Accidents would happen, with people firing the deck gun without removing the cap or just banally falling from the ladder. A number of officers/lookouts/gunners were lost as the boat dived before they could return inside or were otherwise swept away despite safeties. And so on...
