March 29, 44'. After I completed my recon mission of the Mariana Isls., I was ordered to a position ESE of the Palau island chain to conduct anti shipping operations. After my time on station was up, I was sent to a position about halfway between Truck and the Palaus. While in transit, I pick up multiple radar contacts which I plotted going 21kts heading 30. I knew this was a task force, heading mabey for the Marianas. My position at this time was appx. 100nm East of the Palaus.

My plot put the force crossing my course at a favorable angle, and all that was needed was to speed to my fireing position. As the distance closed, I began to make out the shapes of the ships on the horizon. Two Flatops, several Cruisers and Destroyers. I hit the jackpot! I'm well ahead of them, and they're sailing right to me. As they get closer however, something doesn't look right with the shapes of these ships. I realise the truth, but don't want to admit it. I wait longer, hopeing I'm wrong, but NOPE! Good ol' Stars and Stripes on these vessels. What a letdown:wah: Anyway, I reduced speed and watched the show as these guys sailed by to make history.

Good thing you didn't make a RADAR only attack.
