SSS means Submarine Attack.
Ah ok! Thanks
Not that easy to find out :D
About radio messages again...
- When BDU ask me a status and position report, i send a patrol report, am i right?
- What is the interest (if one!) to send a meteo report? Do we have to?
- When i clic first icon (show contact report) nothing happen. What is it for?
- To send a contact report, boat must be in sight, am i right?
- What is last right hand icon for? (nearest radio contact report)
Is it usefull?

do you know that the screens that you add can be seen, at best, half-size?
maybe worth to make them smaller and it will be convenient to all?

I am pretty sure you send them a patrol report and they send you a message back later saying to maintain radio silence, that's what I have been doing.:yep:

Ahoy FiFi and all!
About Messages;
If you are using TDW's UI as I am, Messages can add a bit of immersion to the sim.
FiFi, When I click the first icon nothing happens as you say. It's not important, this icon is a holdover from SH3 and I will keep trying it but have had no luck getting it to respond. As I mentioned, it's really not used all that much but it's supposed to relay the nearest radio contact to the boat in cahoots with the direction finder (that round, turning antenna on the bridge. This was another way of finding enemy shipping nearby).
You CAN send a contact report anytime, if your using the new UI and it helps if you have all the patchs in place so, if you detect a convoy, even if you haven't seen them yet, you can send the contact report and get help on the way. If the BDU does send Wolfpack help, you will get messages saying so with instructions. Then you will start receiving messages from the u-boats as to their plan of attack.
Usually you will be told to follow the convoy but not be detected until the U-boats arrive.
I have adjusted the UI and increased the percentage of chance of recieving back messages from the BDU after sending reports. This way I get a responce (one way or the other) weather or not I'm going to get help or if I'm to take the attack solo.
I hope this helps in some way as to the message questions you had.
PS: As for as the patrol reports, this really doesn't have an effect on your patrol. Historically the BDU micro-managed the U-boats and wanted reports daily or as often as possible. You will get asked (In Red Messages) for your reports. Red massages are you personal messages and should be responded to.
Gute Jagd
:salute:
Thanks for your answer, guys.
What about meteo report? Is it a "gadget" not useful?
Maybe it comes from SH3 too...

For some reason the BDU always call me "U-021" even when I change sub, how can I edit this number myself?
