Hi all,
Where can I find a no-cd mod for sh 4?
My search reveals nothing but there surely must be one.

I believe if you upgrade to SH4 v1.5 the CD check goes away. I don't have it. Never tried playing anything but v1.5 so don't know for sure that this will make it go away if you have a copy with the check built in.
Upgrades to v1.4 are free. It costs about 10USD to go from v1.4 to v1.5 (about 6UKP, I think). You get U-boat missions in the Indian Ocean, but also a MUCH cleaner game and one which is compatible with a lot of really great mods. These, like the supermods TMO, RFB, RSRDC, and OM, make the game much more enjoyable.

We can't post links to this kind of thing and I'm not sure that this thread is even allowed. My DVD version of SH4 has always worked without the CD. TMO and RSDRC and all the other supermods require v1.5 and my copy still runs without a DVD in the drive.
That's as far as I'll go.

What is Subsim.com's stance in relation to warez and piracy? SUBSIM Review has a longstanding policy against software piracy. We do NOT allow discussion or even mention of game piracy, warez, peer-to-peer game swapping, game cracks, illegal download sites, or illegal file-sharing. Nothing will get you banned faster than pointing people to illegal software distribution sites. Don't ask for serial numbers, manuals, or cracks. Any admission that you have in your possession illegal software can and usually will result in revocation of your Radio Room forum account and permanent ban. We do not care what you do on your computer in your home, but do not discuss it here.
Support computer game programmers buy legally purchasing their work. They have to eat too, you know.
Abandonware: games that are 8~10+ years old and are no longer available for sale commercially by the IP owner will be exempted on a case by case basis. An inquiry may be made about the status of a particular game in the Classic Subsims forum (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/forumdisplay.php?f=173). Subsim will make a good faith effort to clear the use of the game with the last known copyright holders. If we were to receive an objection or legal challenge, we would reverse our position is regards to the game in question.
That said I recommend purchasing V 1.5 through the Subsim Amazon link. It removes the CD check as stated and most mods are geared towards that version anyways.
Edit: Oops too late.

Ahoy, RR,
Just for the record, this forum isn't the place to discuss no-cd cracks (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/faq.php?faq=vb_faq#faq_rules2_faq_item) about games, as you may have forgotten. In this case, as a few guys have stated, the game company has released a patch that removes the cd-check from the game legitimately, so that's the way to go.
Thank you, BigWalleye, RedOct and ETR3(SS) for prescribing the best remedy.
