As our economy started to crumble under GW Bush, ain't it nice to know 220K was spent to remodel a small 100 square foot bath.

Glad to know our tax dollars insure some govt. official has a nice crap.

Reminds me of the sign posted in the washroom of Engulf and Devour from the movie 'Silent Movie'. "Our bathrooms are nicer than most peoples homes."

This has been going on for as long as I can remember, which is back to about 1960. Bush is specifically mentioned. does that mean the author blames him for it? Is there any evidence he was involved, or that he knew about it at all?

Bush's Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne approved it. The Interior Sec. is the one that gets so much money from congress, then decides how it's spent on federal property. Yep, been going on for decades.

That doesn't answer my question.

Don't know the answer, I highly doubt Bush knew of every dime his Int. Sec. spent or what it was for. However, Bush did put him there. Saw another report that said this was just the tip of wasted money under this Sec., but I imagine it's been the same with most.

I agree, but that's true of every president. I just find it odd when people use something like this to blame the president. It happens to every president, and there's always someone who wants to blame him for something he didn't even know about.

The article doesn't imply that Bush knew, but that he was appointed by Bush. I'm sure this is a small expense overall, but just another example how government officials will spend our tax dollars why Americans suffer.

You're right, the article only mentions that he was Bush's secretary. It was the way the caption under the picture was worded that got me going.

I'd be willing to pay more taxes if we could make DC into a giant toilet bowl, and then flush it!

But you know it will overspend its budget, be delivered late and then end up not working anyway.
