Hi Guys
A quick question regarding grid reference

On occation I get a radio message stating for example.....
"At 14:00 2 Battleships, 2 Heavy Crusiers 20 Destroyers in grid 2811 Northerly Course,
BDU"

How do I find out exactly where this position is as I cannot find a reference on the map to grid 2811

Please, any help would be appreciated
thanks

Try this: MQK_ Converter (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=3465/)

yes, two:

1. The MQK converter suggested by Illyustrator covers only a little part of the global map. Nonethelss, your grid reference seems incomplete: the four numbers should be preceded by a couple of letters (Like the location under my avatar);

2. I am sorry to spoil your immersion, but if you are using TDW's UI it is very likely that the contact reports that you are asking about are just static messages (they have nothing to do with what actually happens in game). The "real" contact reports give convoy positions as lat/long, and besides being recorded in Captain's log, are shown on map :salute:

Hi rickedd
As Gap says.
I love the fact that radio messages come in but the ones you really want to pay attention to are the ones that say "Submarine sighted (or spotted) and they give a Lat/Lng and then if you look on your nav map, there should be a ship marker at that co-ordinate. You can intercept these if they are near enough.
Also, there are other messages are Blue and Red. These two colors will pertain to your boat directly. They are usually from the BDU or another u-boat.
Most all the other messages (like Gap said) are there for immersion and I'm glad they are there. Some of them are historical, and there will also be reports from the Kriegsmarine on enemy losses.
Yah!
